N1 Deck Jacket Care Guide
Yes, the N1 Deck Jacket had a tough upbringing. It spent its youth on warships, where mollycoddling wasn't exactly on the agenda.
Fortunately, we're not in the 1930s anymore. The Asphalte N1 Deck Jacket is softer than its grandfather, and it doesn't mind a bit of TLC from time to time.
Here's how to look after it properly.

For cleaning, trust the professionals
No two ways about it: the best thing you can do is take your N1 Deck Jacket to a professional dry cleaner once a year.
We know it's an expense, but it's the best way to ensure it keeps looking good by your side for decades.
By the way, always check your items before you leave the dry cleaner’s. If anything’s gone wrong, it’s their responsibility to fix it. But once you’re out the door, it’s on you.

Daily precautions
Cleaning accounts for about 20% of your jacket's durability. The rest comes down to how you treat it day-to-day. You know the drill — the usual rules apply:
- always hang it on a wooden hanger when you're not wearing it
- wear a bib before digging into that plate of pesto tagliatelle
- store it in a garment bag during spring and summer
- wear it the right way round, even if the quilted lining does look pretty smart, only the Prince of Bel Air could pull it off.

Keep an eye on the weather
We've treated the N1 Deck Jacket's cotton with a water-repellent finish free from nasty perfluorocarbons. So you'll be fine if you get caught in light rain.
If you're facing a downpour, though, we'd recommend staying indoors. We said water-repellent, not waterproof.

Complete transparency
Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our N1 Deck Jacket:
- It's not recyclable. Between the organic cotton body, the inner lining, the viscose sleeve lining, and the merino wool collar, dismantling it would be far too complicated. So if your relationship with it comes to an end, we'd encourage you to donate or resell it instead.
- It contains plastic microfibres. It's minimal, but we've had to use a small amount of synthetic materials to ensure optimal durability, particularly in the backing and ribbed edges. It represents only a tiny fraction of the total materials used, but we prefer to be transparent.
- It does not contain hazardous materials. The N1 Deck Jacket is made in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
- It does not contain recycled materials. We try to include them when possible to reduce the impact of our garments, but unfortunately, that's not the case here.

That's everything!
We hope these tips will help you look after your N1 Deck Jacket, and that it'll stay with you for decades to come.
We'll be back in touch in a few weeks to hear how you're getting on.
And if you have any feedback for us, positive or negative, don't hesitate to send it to our team, support@asphalte.com or on IG.
Thanks again for your trust, and see you soon.
