Care guide for the Wool Jacket

Did you know you could wash a Jacket?

Did ya? Lots of people don’t… Most people are happy just dusting theirs off come spring and retiring them to the wardrobe until the next winter. But you can do better than that. Here’s how…

Take it to the dry cleaners once spring’s in full swing and you’re out of the woods as far as chilly evenings go. Then just store it in a sleeve until it’s the jacket’s time to shine again. So easy does it: a professional job (just once a year) is enough.

So what about the day-to-day care ?

Come winter on the other hand, you’ll probably make good use of the jacket, so between outings just air it on a large wooden hanger to keep the fresh feel going. Wool’s like that, it’s not fussy about letting a few smells drift off into the ether. Just avoid prolonged, direct sunlight to keep the colours as intense as on the first day.

Wool isn’t a big fan of water, as in heavy rain, so we recommend not wearing this jacket when it’s pouring down: also no one needs the schoolroom smell of drenched wool, and water-logging damage it over time.

However, nothing stops you from getting a water-proofing spray. While it won’t turn your Wool Jacket into scuba gear, it’ll give it that extra edge when faced with surprise showers.
