Care guide for the Winter Trousers

Precautions

First thing first, hang them on a trouser hanger after each wear. Let them air out for an hour or two to get rid of any odours before sticking them back in your wardrobe. This will reduce creasing and help them keep their shape over time.

Washing

Best to let your local dry cleaners do the honours. There’s of course a cost, but dry cleaning is (by far) the best way of ensuring the longevity of wool trousers. Once every 10-12 wears is more than enough.

Tip: remember to check anything you pick up from the dry cleaners before you leave the premises. That way if you spot any damage you can let them know immediately and avoid any arguments. Once you’ve left the building they’re unlikely to take any responsibility.

The (cheaper) alternative is to soak your Winter Trousers in cold, soapy water for 5 minutes, then rinse them with clean, cold water before hanging them upside down by the legs in a well-ventilated area. Out of direct sunlight of course.

And if you really want to try the washing machine, aim for a no-spin wool programme. It's the least worst solution, although we wouldn't try it if we were you.

Ironing them

Another benefit of dry-cleaning is that this is already taken care of. You can otherwise press your trousers with an iron set on the wool programme.

To avoid scorching the material, we recommend that you place a layer of cotton fabric between the iron and your precious wool fabric.

You can put in a front crease down the middle of the leg for style if you want. Again, best to ask your dry cleaner or a tailor, but you can do it yourself with an iron at home. Use the cotton fabric as mentioned above and be very careful as once you put the crease in it can be difficult to get rid of it completely.

That's all there is to it.

FYI, OUR WINTER TROUSERS ARE SOFT ON YOU AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Winter Trousers:

  • They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing them for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
  • No microplastics are released during washing. Unlike many garments, our Winter Trousers have been designed to not release any microplastics. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that are released when worn or washed and have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Winter Trousers.

Thanks!
