Care guide for the Ventile® Parka
A beautiful Ventile® Parka deserves to be treated with respect. And to make sure it stays with you for a long time (and well), here's what you need to remember.

Rule number 1: Don't rush it.
In other words: Don’t risk it, and stay clear from machines and their unkind drums. Ventile® is a 100% cotton technical fabric woven very tightly - not a fan of large, agitated whirlpools or brutal treatments.

Rule number 2: wash it.
- Option 1: wash by hand in cold (or not more than lukewarm) water, using a mild soap. No harsh detergents, no aggressive spin-drying. Soak it, rub gently if necessary, rinse and leave to dry flat or on a hanger.
- Option 2: the lazy way, dry cleaning. We’re not judging. But be careful, goes to dry cleaners who know what they're doing. Don't hesitate to tell them it's a Ventile® cotton fabric, and that you should avoid aggressive products.

Rule number 3: Never tumble dry.
The Ventile® and the drum are a no-go. You risk damaging the weave and therefore its natural water-repellent properties. Leave to dry in the open air, in peace and quiet.

Rule number 4: If you need to iron, OK.
But gently does it. If your Parka comes out creased, you can iron it at 150°C max, preferably with a damp cloth between to protect the fibre. One press and it's good to go.

Rule number 5: Save yourself the water-repellent treatments.
Ventile® swells naturally on contact with water. That's its strength, and that's what makes it so breathable. The simpler you keep it, the longer it will last and age like a fine wine.

FYI, OUR VENTILE PARKA AND THE PLANET
Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Ventile Parkas:
- They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing them for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
- No microplastics are released during washing. Unlike many garments, our Ventile Parkas have been designed to not release any microplastics. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that are released when worn or washed and have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
- They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
- They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Ventile Parka.

Thanks!
