Care Guide for the Long-Sleeve Merino T-shirt

The natural properties of Merino wool may lend it some near-magical powers, but your new favourite T-shirt won't look after itself. Here's a guide to keeping it looking and feeling its best.

Soft on washes

"Self-cleaning" Merino wool doesn't retain bacteria or odours. Practical right? Unlike cotton and synthetic materials, you won't need to wash it after every use. Unless you're taking it for your ultra-trail, one wash every 5/6 wears will be more than enough (as long as you air it for a few hours between each wear).

If you're wearing a Merino wool T-shirt for the first time, it's understandable that the concept might seem counterintuitive, but you'll soon realise that we're not having you on. Believe us, it’s as magical as it gets.

The icing on the cake is that spaced washing saves water and energy (not to mention money). Straight As for sustainability.

Which wash setting?

When it's time for the big clean, simply put your Long-Sleeve Merino T-shirt in the wash and opt for a 30°C max wool programme. Above all, make sure you choose a slow spin, never more than 400 rpm. If you don't want to spin it at all, that's even better (although it will take longer to dry).

If you don’t trust it, hand washing is perfectly fine, as long as you don't wring out your T-shirt by hand as this could damage the fibres.

Air dry is best dry

If you have knitted jumpers, you already know, knitwear should be laid flat to avoid warping during drying The same goes for this Long-Sleeve T-shirt, of course. A flat surface, a terry towel to avoid water damage, and you're done.

PS: if you were thinking of putting your friend in the tumble dryer, don't even think about it. It would do him a lot more harm than good.

Put that iron back

Even though ironing is not forbidden, we think it's really an unnecessary step here. Our jersey stitch and Merino wool have a natural elasticity that makes the material and your T-shirt crease-free.

If you really want to iron, set your iron to wool and give it a few quick presses. Remember that wool is not a big fan of high temperatures.

FYI, OUR LONG-SLEEVE MERINO T-SHIRT ON YOU AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Long-Sleeve Merino T-shirt:

  • They’re 100% recyclable after being taken apart, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. However, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. By giving rather than selling, you're contributing to a virtuous cycle and helping those who need it most.
  • Unlike many garments that release microplastics during washing, our Long-Sleeve Merino T-shirts have been designed not to do so. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try and incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Long-Sleeve Merino T-shirt.
