Care guide for the Henley

Washing it

If it looks like a T-Shirt, feels like a T-Shirt but has a button-placket, then chances are it’s called a Henley. But you can still care for it as easily as a T-Shirt.

And that means machine-washing it on a cold setting - 30°C max with similar colours.

Before you do so, turn it inside out so that if the machine drum has a few sharp edges that try to hook up with your garment, at least the fibres on the visible side of your Henley won’t be damaged. The next level would be to use a laundry bag.

As for laundry detergents, we suggest going for a liquid one as the powdered varieties can leave marks on dark clothes. That goes for all your clothes, not just your Henley.

For the spin cycle, go for a max 800/900rpm setting. Any more wouldn’t dry it any quicker and only risks damaging the cotton fibres.

Drying it

However tempting it may be, avoid wringing it out by hand after the wash as this could damage the fibres.

Let it air-dry away from direct sunlight, preferably laid flat.

A few extra care tips

Ever wondered how to make homemade detergent? Here’s one way to do it

- Boil some water.

- Add 50g of natural soap flakes

- Stir it all and let it sit for 18 hours (just so it hardens up)

- Once cold, add 30 g of soda crystals (sodium carbonate) and stir it all up once more.

- To get your favourite scent for your homemade detergent, you can add a few drops (7 to 8 max) of essential oils.

- All you need to do now is fill up your jab and you’re good to go.

Thanks!
