Care Guide for the Cord Chinos

How’s life treating you since you slipped your legs into that French cord? Probably a lot softer than it used to be. In any case, remember to give them a bit of TLC if you want to keep them looking good for years to come. Trust us, it’s all quite simple.

Day-to-day care

We don't recommend washing them after every wear. Or every week or month for that matter unless of course, you've gone to sweep a chimney with them in the meantime. Wash them when it's really necessary, the rest of the time you can simply air them out between wears.

Washing them

But when the time comes to give them a proper wash, you can give them a spin in the wash. Just turn them inside out and wash on a low 30°C setting, if possible with similar colours.

Extra tip: Use organic liquid detergents, as the others may contain bleaching agents (among other things) that will fade the colour of your Chinos.

Drying them

Stay away from the tumble dryer. Air-dry them flat or on a special trouser hanger. Nature has a way of doing that.

Ironing them

Yes, you can. But don't top 150°C, as this will scorch the cord beyond repair. A little tip to prolong its life: iron it on the reverse to preserve its good looks while being extremely effective.

FYI, OUR CORD CHINOS ARE SOFT ON YOU AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Cord Chinos.

  • They’re 100% recyclable, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. However, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. By giving rather than selling, you're contributing to a virtuous cycle and helping those who need it most.
  • Unlike many garments that release microplastics during washing, our Cord Chinos have been designed not to do so. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try and incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Cord Chinos. Hopefully, that’ll be the case next time round.

Thanks!
