The thrill of a lifetime
Go All Out
For years, the cardigan has had a bad rap. Old clichés die hard. It breaks our hearts every time we see it labelled as outdated and uncool. At Asphalte, we've decided to put an end to the bullying and restore this legend to its rightful place in your wardrobe. Enter the Good Cardigan.
A Modernised Cardigan
In the collective imagination, a cardigan is lightweight, and worn out, with elbow patches and a wooden pipe sticking out of one of the pockets. Well, needless to say, that's a quite narrow view in our opinion. Take our highly modern interpretation, the Good Cardigan. We've crafted a slightly tailored cut, for the perfect drape with a balanced neckline that’s not too high, not too plunging.
Compact Yarn
Ever heard of compact yarn? It's a spinning technique where fibres are compressed under pressure. In the end, the threads are denser, more robust, less "hairy," and have better durability. Here, they're made of 100% organic cotton, guaranteeing softness, flexibility, and breathability. The perfect combo.
Tight Knit
To prevent the Good Cardigan from going haywire, we've chosen an extremely dense knit. If you want the technical term, it's a "pearl rib," easily recognisable by the small pearl-like shapes the stitches create. The knitting technique’s so dense that it ensures an unbeatable fit, reduces pilling, and guarantees a clean, neat look. No shape-shifting with this one.
The return of the Cardigan
It was time we breathed new life into the Cardigan. Mocked for its grandpa vibes, we spruced it up with a contemporary design, top-notch material, and a studied V-neck. If you look closely, you'll see we've tailored the collar to the millimetre so it's neither too shy nor too revealing. Just enough to showcase your best T-shirt, shirt, or both. Either way, it's a feast for the eyes.
A local lad
Like all our clothing, we've crafted this Good Cardigan in Europe. More specifically, its compact yarns were knitted in France by Maison Broussaud, a family knitwear specialist at it since 1938, before being assembled in Portugal with our partner Inarbel.
A Quartet of Colors
Thanks to our expert partners in Portugal we’ve come up with four dyes that do the business: a luminous beige, an intense navy, a light grey marl, and a rich cream. Already know which one you’re having?
The Key to Pampering
You know the drill, always handle knitwear with care. Especially when washing. To ensure your Good Cardigan stays with you for a long time, we recommend a machine wash at 30°C with similar colours and minimal spinning (400 rpm). Let it dry flat in a well-ventilated place, preferably away from direct sunlight.
Dive in the preorders
There’s no two ways about it, the Good Cardigan has a style all of its own. Forget any preconceptions you may have and let it into your life once and for all. You'll discover an exceptional piece of comfort, elegance, and ease; to the point where it'll be hard to take it off. Befriend it, and it’ll reward you.
