Where does this Chambray come from?
From France, just like the original
Authentic chambray is French, so we've looked no further:
- Woven in France by Telatex. Just like the original Chambray back in the 16th century, ours is French through and through. Telatex are a long-standing partner who always deliver top-quality.
- 100% organic cotton. Unlike denim, which it’s often mistaken for, chambray is a plain weave, not a twill. One vertical thread and one horizontal thread interlace at regular intervals, producing a fabric that looks identical on both sides.
- The right weight for a year-round shirt. Our chambray fabric tips the scales at 155 gsm. Unbuttoned over a tee in the height of summer, layered under a jumper in the depths of winter: this shirt will see you through the entire calendar.
What about the fit?
It'll suit you down to the ground
We used our Button-Down Oxford as a starting point. It’s been refined over many versions and you rated it 8.8/10 overall, which says it all:
- Tailored fit, just right. Gently tapered at the waist, it cuts a nice shape without restricting movement. No gaping, no pulling.
- The right length. It stays put tucked in, and can be worn untucked without looking like a nightgown.
- A well-proportioned collar. 7.2 cm points in the French style, our Chambray Shirt has presence without looking like a couple of slices of pizza draped around your neck.
Anything else worth mentioning?
Just a bit
You know us — we don't do things by halves:
- Buttons that aren't going anywhere. 100% corozo, cat's-eye shape, sewn on with an Ascolite machine — these little fellows are staying put.
- Tasty pockets. The two rounded patch pockets are a design lifted straight off the chambray shirts worn by the US Navy in the 1940s.
- Double topstitching absolutely everywhere. Collar, armhole, placket, pockets, cuffs: we've blasted the lot. This both reinforces absolutely everything for extra durability and looks ace, playing into its workwear DNA. So we didn't hold back.
