Care Guide for the Smart Raincoat

Alterations

If your raincoat doesn't quite fit right, just pop round to your local alterations specialist and they'll sort it for you.

Need to tweak the sleeve length? You can easily add or take away up to 2cm, no problem, and you don't even need to touch the adjustable cuff tab.

Care

To get the most out of your raincoat, here are a few handy tips. Nothing too tricky, promise!

Cleaning

You've got two ways to look after your Ventile®:

  • Hand wash: The gentle approach. Use lukewarm water and a bit of mild soap, rinse well, and let it air dry. Spot on for small marks and stains.
  • Dry cleaner's: Perfect for a proper clean. Just make sure to tell them it's Ventile® cotton and a standard dry clean will do the job nicely.

Once a year should be plenty, unless you're wrestling in the mud every morning.

Everyday care

If you want to freshen it up between washes:

  • Give your coat a gentle brush or dab off any dust with a sponge.
  • For small stains, a lightly damp sponge can work wonders.

Drying and ironing

  • No tumble dryer: Your lovely raincoat hates tumble dryers – they'll ruin its natural water-resistant magic. Let it air dry on a hanger, out of direct sunlight.
  • Gentle ironing: If you need to iron it, keep it on a low heat (max 150°C) to keep it looking sharp. It’s best to use a damp cloth between the iron and the fabric to protect it.

FYI, OUR SMART RAINCOATS AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation, known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Smart Raincoats:

  • They’re 100% recyclable once taken apart. This means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. However, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing yours on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. By giving rather than selling, you're contributing to a virtuous cycle and helping those who need it most.
  • Unlike many garments that release microplastics during washing, our Smart Raincoats have been designed not to do so. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try and incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Smart Raincoat.

Thanks!

That’s all, folks! We hope that your Smart Raincoat will live up to your expectations. We’ll get in touch in a few weeks so you can tell us how you’re getting on.

In the meantime, if you’d like to share any thoughts or comments you can contact us by email on support@asphalte.com.

Thanks for trusting us; we hope to see you again soon.
