Care Guide for the New Trousers

If you're reading this, you've probably got yourself a pair of New Trousers, and we'd like to thank you for that. We did our best, so you don't regret it one second, especially if you plan to care for them - as you being here suggests. We'll reassure you straight away: it’s not rocket science, and at most it will take you a handful of minutes 2-3 times a month. Here’s the lowdown.

Washing your New Trousers

Good news, they’re machine washable and even though they work as a Set with a matching Jacket, they don't need to be dry cleaned like the vast majority of suit trousers. Wash them every 8-10 wears, on a 30°C programme with a dab of organic liquid detergent. As far as spinning is concerned, we find that 600 to 800 rpm is more than enough. Beyond that, it starts to get a bit rough on the cotton fibres.

Drying your New Trousers

It's best to lay your trousers to dry flat, away from direct sunlight and in a well-ventilated area. But above all, spare them the tumble dryer.

Ironing your new trousers

A few presses with a 150°C iron will do the trick just fine. As a precaution, always place a layer of fabric between your clothes and the iron plate to avoid ugly marks. After that, you can fold it and put it away, on a hanger or directly in your cupboard.

FYI, OUR NEW TROUSERS AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our New Trousers:

  • They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing them for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
  • No microplastics are released during washing. Unlike many garments, our New Trousers have been designed to not release any microplastics. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that are released when worn or washed and have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems**.**
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the New Trousers

Thanks!
