The New Jacket is the top part of our New Set. But unlike most two-piece suits, ours is machine washable and doesn't require having to fork out to take it to the dry cleaners. Here’s the lowdown.
Washing your New Jacket
When you need to wash it, just unbutton it, put it inside out in your washing machine on a regular 30°C programme. If you have an organic liquid detergent to hand, it's always preferable to solid detergents, which tend to leave nasty marks on clothes.
When it comes to spinning, we strongly recommend aiming no higher than 600-800 rpm, as you run the risk of stressing the organic cotton fibres otherwise.
Of course, it's always best to run a cycle with items of similar colours, to avoid bleeding onto your jacket.
Drying your New Jacket
No tumble dryers, please: air dry in a well-ventilated area, out of direct sunlight as much as possible.
To ensure that your jacket retains its shape and great shoulder structure, we recommend that you put it on a wide wooden hanger. As it dries, it will smooth out and regain the beautiful fall that is half of its charm.
Ironing your New Jacket
If you want it to look its best, iron your New Jacket on max. 150°C, not forgetting to place a layer of fabric between the garment and the iron plate to avoid any marks.
After that, you can put it back in your wardrobe, still on its hanger.
FYI, OUR NEW JACKETS AND THE PLANET
Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our New Trousers:
- It’s 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day its services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing it for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
- No microplastics are released during washing. Unlike many garments, our New Jackets have been designed to not release any microplastics. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that are released when worn or washed and have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems**.**
- They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
- They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the New Jacket.
Thanks!
