Does carded wool make any difference?

The short answer: yes.

But for it to do so, the wool needs to be up to scratch.

  • First up, you need a top-quality fibre. For the Shetland, we went with a fairly rugged wool from New Zealand, spun and dyed in Prato, Italy.
  • Next up, we went for fibres with a diameter of 25 microns—the sweet spot for texture, warmth and durability.
  • Once spun, we knitted it using a very high tension, meaning it’s strong without being scratchy, and soft without bobbling too much.

We could have combed it to make it look a bit smoother and more uniform, but it’s that textured, cushy character that gives this jumper its personality.

What sort of fit are we talking?

Now for the magic.

Let us introduce the rarest of knits: the “wholegarment”. It’s a nifty bit of wizardry that knits the jumper’s body all in one go, with no side seams, for maximum comfort and a clean finish.

A feat? No. Just real expertise.

We’ve equipped your Shetland Jumper with raglan sleeves for a full range of movement.

Neither boxy nor tight, it’s got that just-right fit.

Gently shaped, it slips easily over a T-shirt or smartens up a shirt—all without pinching your style or, more importantly, cramping your comfort. In terms of sizing, stick with your usual size. Easy.

Is everyone on board?

Yep. Let’s look at the numbers.

You lot know the deal by now: you tell us what you want, we make it happen, you give us feedback, we tweak things and then we go again.

  • This jumper was co-created by 2,211 pairs of hands (and then some), so you can rest assured that we had all the insights needed to make this jumper really quite something.
  • Owners of the last version gave it a solid 8.6/10 for comfort and style, and you can expect the same high standards this time round, too.

And while we’re on the subject, we’ve added some fresh new shades. Pretty decent all round.

How does preordering work?

Basically, it means you buy the garment before it’s produced. By pre‑ordering, you’re the one launching the production.

With this system, we only produce what’s sold, so we avoid overproduction and can offer you an excellent quality‑price ratio.
