Is that linen I spy?
Indeed it is
For the jacket's fabric, we went with French linen, woven by our Italian partners at Leomaster.
- A substantial 275 gsm cloth. Breathable enough to keep you ventilated, dense enough to guarantee a clean drape with zero transparency.
- All the virtues of linen. Naturally hardwearing, thermoregulating, eco-friendly, antibacterial and hypoallergenic - we salute you, Mother Nature.
- Lightweight, and fully unstructured. It's built for the summer, so we've steered well clear of lining. A single layer of French linen — that's all you need for a supple jacket that can take on the heat and win. The only exception is viscose lining in the sleeves, so you can slip it on a hell of a lot more easily.
And the fit?
Subtly tailored
Last summer, a fair few customers found the cut too roomy, so we've trimmed it back a bit.
- Tailored, but not slim. It follows the curve of your torso without gaping or pulling.
- Darts for maximum precision. To add shape, we've added darts on the side panels and in the back. Nothing dramatic, just tidies things up a bit.
- Gunning for 10/10. Ok, that’s impossible. But you rated the previous version of the jacket 8.3/10 for fit, and we're hoping this one will smash that.
- Easy to alter. Everybody has their quirks, so if you want to let your jacket in or out, we’ve left inlays to play with.
Is the makeup to snuff?
Conted know their stuff
Same as last year, we’ve entrusted the make to our Romanian partners at Conted. Which is handy, because suiting has been their sole focus for 60 years.
- Half-canvas construction. No stiff, dodgy fusing in sight - just several wafer-thin layers of soft canvasing to shape the chest. It doesn’t just look much better, it’s also more comfortable, more durable, gives the jacket a natural drape and naturally shapes to your body over time.
- American-style facing. No lining here: the body of the jacket is folded back on itself, running all the way up to the armhole to give the chest area structure. It's light, fluid, and a thing of beauty. It’s more work, but well worth it.
- Twin vents at the back. The most practical setup for hopping on your bike or simply pulling up a pew.
- A generous neckline. To top it all off, we've added an 8.2 cm wide notch lapel. Perfect over a T-shirt, a light knit or a shirt. The full spectrum.
