Linen is the best plant fibre for summer, full stop. It can absorb up to 40% of its weight in moisture without leaving a mark. It breathes. It ventilates. It regulates temperature like a natural thermostat. In short, it lets you sweat while keeping your dignity intact.

Add to that the fact our linen is 100% French. It’s light enough to let a breeze pass through, but dense enough not to be see-through. A fabric made for sipping something cold with your feet in the sand, but still get you through the door of any smart establishment.

Linen gets better with age, too. It softens, it mellows with every wash. Those little crumpled creases are its signature. Its character. And soon yours.

Tailored, but breathable

We went with the same fit as our Button-Down Oxford: a tailored cut that follows your shape without restricting your movement. It doesn’t billow like a sail, but it’s no straitjacket either. It delivers a clean silhouette while still letting air circulate.

The shoulders sit naturally, the armholes are well placed, the chest is gently shaped. The back is slightly shaped to avoid that parachute effect when you tuck it in. You can raise your arms without tearing it and move without feeling the fabric pull.

Wear it buttoned up with chinos or shorts, or open over a white tee. Different styles, same rich character.

• A left chest patch pocket topstitched and reinforced with bar tacks for longevity.
• Double pleats where the sleeves meet the cuffs for added ease of movement.
• Tidy topstitching on the collar and armholes, a double-turned hem, and a shirttail hem to make tucking in easier.
