Tell me about this virgin wool
Wool with character
This is the first time we’ve made the Knitted Jacket out of virgin wool. We’ve done so because its fibres are longer, more regular and harder wearing. And we didn't pick just any old wool. This is Corriedale. It’s a bit more raw than Merino wool, with oodles of character, and the ability to keep you toasty without overheating.
It’s knitted full needle on both sides of the fabric for stability and, well, it looks good. We went for a staggered pattern with a high density that holds its shape year after year. It’s soft, doesn’t stretch or bobble - just what you want.

Why a knitted work jacket?
From good times to the office
Work jackets were originally built to take a beating, with big pockets to carry pliers, nails and all sorts of things, reinforced all over, and a loose cut for ease of movement.
We kept that DNA, but instead of the usual heavy cotton canvas, we knitted it in virgin wool. So it keeps the rugged, resourceful spirit, only delivering a level of warmth and comfort you wouldn't expect from an item like this. Two worlds that normally don't have much to say to each other turn out to get along rather well.

What about the cut and the finishes?
A straight cut and some tidy finishes
The cut is straight and laid-back, neither fitted nor boxy. Enough room to slip a thick tee or a fine jumper underneath without wriggling about every 10 mins, a proper structure that won't sag throughout the day, and a collar that elevates it way beyond cardigan territory.
The rest is the kind of detail you don't always notice, but that changes everything:
- Faced for a neat front edge without a ripple in sight.
- Vertical buttonholes for a cleaner drape.
- Bio-based resin buttons, raised on a shank and hand-sewn, so they don't pull over time.
It's a level of finish that keeps a jacket looking good for years and years.
