Worth the detour?
Wherever you’re heading can wait
Let’s be honest: modern Oxford shirts are pretty budget. Most of the time they’re so thin they look more like OCB than an OCBD.
To get the fabric right, we went riffling through old US brands and finally found a ‘90s number that was just the ticket. A properly hefty, textured Oxford like they don’t make ‘em no more. Until now. At 175 g/m², it’s quite a bit denser than what we’re used to these days, alas.
Two warp yarns, two weft yarns, double-twisted, a tight basket weave, and that’s that: you’ve got an Oxford cotton button-down that can finally show its face on campus.

Is it just me, or is that a peach finish I spot?
You’re not wrong
That slightly fluffy look comes from a modern treatment: the enzyme wash. It ensures:
- A more supple cloth. Enzyme washing uses proteins that gently break down the cotton’s tiny fibres, so the fabric doesn’t feel overly stiff and isn’t so prone to creasing.
- More supple. Thanks to the enzyme wash, the fabric moves naturally, without that rigid, starched feel you get with a lot of Oxfords.
- Softer, comfier. The treatment gives the fabric a really satisfying hand, almost velvety to the touch. From the first time you pull it on, it’ll feel like you’ve been wearing it for a decade. Bliss.
All the benefits of a heavyweight fabric, without the usual stiffness: that’s what you get with an enzyme wash. Tell us what you think.

And what about the fit?
An OCBD done properly
It’s not just the cloth that makes a great cotton Oxford. You know the drill, we went all in:
- A proper button-down collar. The button-down collar is the soul of this shirt, so we took care to make properly pointed collar tips, ensure the famous “collar roll”, and sew the bio-based buttons in a cross stitch.
- The good old American placket. The button placket is sewn the traditional way. It’s a more relaxed construction than a dress shirt, and that’s exactly the point.
- A patch pocket on the left chest. With bar tacks at all the stress points, it’s ready to put in the hours, year after year.
- And the rest. All buttons sewn with a shank and secured with an Ascolite machine, comfort pleats where the cuffs meet the sleeves, a discreet hanging loop placed inside the collar, a shirttail hem, rounded cuffs - nothing was left to chance.

How does preordering work?
