It's made for it
The 7/7 Cap’s what's known as a 5-panel cap. The name does exactly what it says on the tin: 5 pieces of fabric stitched together to form the crown. As well as looking tidy and well balanced, it gives the cap loads of flexibility - just what you need to fit all head sizes. There's also an adjuster at the back so you can dial in the fit to the millimetre.
Haven’t I seen these fabrics before?
Well spotted, twice actually
Jordan picked them:
- Batavia twill for the crown. You'll know it well if you picked up a pair of our New Shorts. It’s a rich, textured and really supple organic cotton twill - perfect for adding a hint of depth to the 7/7 Cap.
- The 7/7 Suit fabric for the peak. 50% organic cotton, 50% recycled MWool® from Manteco, Italy. It’s the same cloth that the suit we made with Jordan Maurin of Menswearplease is made of.
Does that make it a collector's item?
Very much so
It’s embroidered with an Asphalte x Menswearplease logo designed specially for us by Clément Johanet. As for the make, you know how we do things: 4 rows of topstitching on the peak for durability, bound eyelets to let your loaf breathe, a 3 cm cotton facing on the inside for sweat absorption, and solid seams where the 5 panels meet.
