Sun's up, legs out

It's 7h30, it's summer, the day's about to start, you: '(Insert voice assistant), what's the weather going to be like today?' - 'Calling Mummykins' - 'No, don't do that' - 'ordering doner kebab' - 'what?' ... to cut a long story short, the only question you need to be directing is to your wardrobe: what to wear in 30+˚C heat?

This question has clearly had at least 4,930 of you scratching your sweaty heads over the years, and when it comes to shorts your biggest concern is the dreaded length. Too short and you quickly drift into The Hoff's territory, which is fine as long as you have a beach to patrole. Too long and you look like you're on a school trip, the weirdly mature one in the class. And definitely not too fitted, you need that air to circulate.

To help you through the summer we've rolled up our trousers legs and got busy doing what's long needed doing: solving the main issues you have with shorts:

1) Colours that don’t fade as quickly as your tan

2) Shorts that don't fall apart like a paperback in the swimming pool

3) The length, but we've already said that.

Shorts are the A.C. of the trouser world, there simply is no other way to survive a heatwave. And for those who still need convincing rest assured, staying cool AND looking cool is never mutually exclusive to us.

It's about finding the right ones, a trusted pair of buddies that can accompany you throughout the entire summer without ever feeling out of place.

It’s a hot day, you’ve bagged a sunny spot to enjoy a coffee and catch up on the news. Good vibes only. But, why is everyone staring at you? Could it be that those shorts are just a wee bit too short? Sorry folks.

Our Classic Shorts are the dreamy option for summer because just like a well considered blog post (comments below please), it's all about finding the right length. Our Classic Shorts are cut right above the knee, but if that's a touch too long for you, simply roll it up et voilà, a shorter version. Genius.

The office, the beach, bars, restaurants, they’re fit for every situation. Casual or classy, just depends on whether you're wearing espadrilles or not​. One more thing we did to avoid side-eyes, is work hard on the fit. Relaxed and roomy, but not too much, for a tailored result that looks neat and composed.

Yes, the sun is great, but hanging out in the shade in summer isn't overrated either. What is overrated though are your shorts losing colour over time and presenting a different shade after each wash.

Since finding the right shorts is a tricky job, once you find a good pair, you'll want them to stick around for the long haul. Quality’s always a hot topic for us, and for our Classic Shorts we wanted to make sure that their lifespan wasn't, well, too short...

They're made from a 260gr/m2 organic cotton twill that's both durable and soft to the touch.

They're held together by good looking French seams and strengthened with bartacks on pockets and belt loops for added durability. These bad boys mean business, even if that's just sipping negronis.

Our certified organic cotton starts life bathing in the Indian sun before making the trip to Italy. That's where it's spun, made into a more breathable 3/1 cotton twill by expert weavers (whose technical set up saves 70% of the energy used) and roll-dyed under the strictest environmental regulations before being treated to an artisanal finish for an extra soft feel.

And finally, the fabric travels to Portugal where the masters from Expotime cut our Classic Shorts so they’re ready in time for the summer.

We've lined up 4 evergreen colours that will look good year after year. Nothing outrageous here, keep it low key or chuck in a pop of colour as and when.

A small detail that makes all the difference. Pockets are a must, no doubt, but it's not as easy as one thinks.

Front pockets to carry your phone or hang in your sunglasses off that's for sure. But the back pockets, that's a debate of its own.

Our Classic Shorts' back pockets come with buttoned flaps that you can do what you like with. Close them to keep your wallet or keys safe or tuck the flap in and forget about them. Two birds, one stone. We mean two ways to wear, one pocket style.

Either way, they've been secured with extra bartacks, so fill them up and embark on a Spritz-filled Sunday without fear.

The Classic Shorts will be available for preorder for 59€ from Thursday 25th March at 10am CET. But don’t cut it too fine, in case the summer comes early, as it’s first ordered first served. That’s because we do our best to anticipate your orders and have your Classic Shorts produced in batches.

For the early birds, your Classic Shorts will make their way to you around mid-June (that's anytime between the 11th and the 20th of the month). If you leave it till the last days, you can expect them around the end of June (that's between the 21st and the 30th).

And for those who're wondering, if it doesn't work out when your Classic Shorts arrive, returns and exchanges are easy. Return costs are on us.
