THE SUMMER TROUSERS CARE GUIDE
Summertime, of all times, is not one where we enjoy being tied down, is it? So fret not, we're not about to waffle on with heaps of details. We're cutting to the chase, just like that direct route to the beach.
Soft Washing
As a general rule, and this applies to almost all your clothes, avoid washing your trousers every week. We source durable fabrics and lasting colour dyes, but it's perfectly normal for repeated washing to wear out the fabric. Therefore, be sure to wash them only when necessary, and the planet will thank you too. And when that day comes, here are our recommendations:
- The linen version
Linen is a smart fabric that doesn’t need to be washed on the regular. You can simply air it for a few hours to release most of the bacteria, and the smells that go with them. When washing them, opt for a delicate setting on your machine, say 30°C. A quick spin at 600 rpm during the rinse cycle should get the job done.
- The cotton version
Same as above, but pop your trousers inside out, then into the washing machine at 30°C, ideally with similar colours. Keep the rinse cycle at 600 rpm or lower to ensure your slacks don’t get roughed up.

Drying your pants
Once clean, the Summer Trousers can be dried flat, on a line, or on a hanger. It's your shout. Whatever you do, avoid the tumble dryer and direct sunlight.

Ironing
Summer might be a good time to do away with the usual chores, but if you like to cultivate the Riviera-style elegance of Mr Ripley, a few gentle presses will do that for you.
- For the cotton version, aim for a gentle iron setting of 110°C.
- For the linen version, you can push the temperature up a little (say Max 150°C), but place a layer of fabric between the iron and your trousers to avoid scorching them.

Taking care of pesky stains
Make sure not to rub any stains in the material; you'll only end up messing up the dye. Here's the skinny on tackling a few tricky spots:
- For the grafters and artists out there, milk's your best bet for ink stains.
- For the foodies and culinary adventurers, a bit of dish soap plus a spin in the washer works wonders on grease.
For everything else, chuck them in a laundry bag to keep those lovely fibres looking sharp, and stick to liquid soap, the greener the better, mind you, and steer clear of bleach. But really, that’s sound advice for all your kit.
FYI, OUR SUMMER TROUSERS ARE SOFT ON YOU AND THE PLANET
Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Summer Trousers:
- they’er 100% recyclable, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. However, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. By giving rather than selling, you're contributing to a virtuous cycle and helping those who need it most.
- Unlike many garments that release micro-plastics during washing, our Summer Trousers have been designed not to do so. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
- They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
- They do not contain any recycled materials. We try and incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Summer Trousers.
There, you have it all now.

Now let summer begin.
That’s all there is to it. Easy, right? Stick to the checklist and your Summer Trousers are sure to be a hit for years to come.
