You had the good taste to invest in one, so here's how to look after it properly.

This is hardly a revelation, but people aren't all built the same.

Height, weight, shoulders, the way they slope, body shape, posture - they all vary.

We do everything we can to make our clothes work for as many people as possible, but we don't pretend to be made-to-measure.

So if your jacket needs a tweak, think about getting it altered. Alteration specialists handle these kinds of jobs day in, day out, and they'll help you dial it in perfectly:

• Sleeve length. Lengthen a little or shorten as needed.
• The waist. Nip in the sides for around €20.

The durability of your Flannel Suit Jacket depends on how you wear it (a little) and how you look after it (a lot). The golden rule here is to hang it up on a hanger whenever you take it off. This is the best way to keep creases at bay and preserve its overall shape.

If you’re putting it away for the summer, we'd suggest popping it in a garment bag to keep it safe while it hibernates.

If you spill anything on it, act fast. A bit of lukewarm water and some mild soap should see off most things if you're quick off the mark.

You probably already know this: machine washing a suit is a total no-go. Instead, drop it off at your local dry cleaners whenever it needs freshening up. It'll cost you around fifteen euros, but it's really worth it.

PS: To avoid the colours ageing differently, we'd strongly recommend dry cleaning both parts of the suit together whenever you do - jacket and trousers.

One last bit of friendly advice: when you collect your clothes, always check their condition before leaving the dry cleaners. Once you walk out of the shop, you "accept" any damage that occurred during cleaning. Spot it while you're still in the shop, and it's the dry cleaner's responsibility.

Since 1 January 2024, the AGEC law requires all textile brands to be transparent about what goes into their products, so we can all have a much better idea of exactly what we're buying. We didn't wait for the legislation to do this, we actually lobbied for it, and we think it's an important step in the right direction to change the way our industry works. So here are a few extra details about your Flannel Suit Jacket:

• It's 100% recyclable. If its time with you comes to an end, know that it can be fully recycled. That said, we'd suggest thinking about giving it away before recycling, as the longer it's worn, the lower its impact.
• It doesn't contain plastic microfibres. Unlike a lot of clothing that sheds microplastics in the wash, it's been designed to minimise its environmental impact. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles that wreak havoc on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
• It doesn't contain hazardous substances. It meets strict European standards aimed at eliminating substances and chemical treatments that are be harmful to you, the environment, and the people who make it.
• It doesn't contain recycled materials. Sometimes we manage to incorporate recycled materials to further reduce the impact of our clothes. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible with this one.
