It’s no mystery that sheep don’t wash too often, they wear wool which is both antibacterial and self-cleaning. In other words, a bit of an airing is all it takes to keep it feeling fresh.

Same goes for your Chunky Jumper. Just air it out regularly and it'll stay as fresh as a daisy.

That said, you'll still need to give it a dip now and again. Once every 8 to 10 wears should do it.

You can either wash it by hand or pop it in the machine.

For the hand option, we'd suggest using a basin of cold soapy water. Whatever you do, don't wring it out. If you’re using a machine, opt for a wool programme at 30°C max, keeping the spin cycle to 400 rpm tops.

No tumble dryer. Ever. Your jumper’s fibres will hate you for it, it’ll develop a shine, and you’ll seriously reduce its lifespan.

Instead, air-dry it flat in a well-ventilated spot away from direct sunlight. Ideally on a towel to soak up the excess water.

Don’t hang it up to dry, however tempting it is. The weight of the water will stretch the knit out of shape.

You can iron your Chunky Jumper to settle the wool back down, but stick to the low heat of a wool setting. 130°C max.

To avoid scorching the fibres, place a layer of fabric between the wool and the iron.

Since 1 January 2024, the AGEC law requires all textile brands to be transparent about what goes into their products so we can all have a much better idea of exactly what we're buying. We didn't wait for the legislation to do this, we actually lobbied for it. We think it's an important step in the right direction to change the way our industry works. So here are a few extra details about your Chunky Jumper:

• It's fully recyclable. If your time together comes to an end, your item can be recycled. That said, we'd always recommend repairing it or giving it to someone else before doing so.
• It doesn't contain plastic microfibres. Unlike a lot of clothing that sheds microplastics in the wash, it's been designed to minimise its environmental impact. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles that wreak havoc on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
• It doesn't contain hazardous substances. It meets strict European standards aimed at eliminating substances and chemical treatments that could be harmful to you, the environment, and the people who make it.
• It doesn't contain recycled materials. Sometimes we manage to use recycled materials to further reduce the impact of our clothes. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible in this case.

Stick to these few rules and your Chunky Jumper will only get better with age. Just remember not to wash it too often.
