The Band Collar Shirt Care Guide

Step 1 : Washing it

Pop your Band Collar Shirt inside out and wash with similar colours on a 30°C programme with a moderate spin (600rpm maximum), and you're hot to trot.

If you want to do things right, unbutton the collar and cuffs in order to avoid stressing the fabric at the seams.

As for the detergent, we can only recommend the liquid eco-sort over the powder ones. If you’re making it yourself, that’s even better.

Step 2 : Drying it

We can't say it often enough, stay away from the tumble dryer! Let your Band Collar Shirt hang on a large wooden hanger for a few hours, that should do the trick, and it’ll get rid of most of the post-wash creases too.

Avoid direct sunlight which could fade the colours. All you need is a well-ventilated area, ideally outdoors.

Step 3 : Ironing it and more

Spoiler: do step 2 right and you’ll get a good head start on this 3rd step. If you’re the tidy, ironed-shirt type, a few gentle presses will do the job. Just watch out for a few things:

  • lace a layer of fabric between your shirt and the iron to avoid scorching the seams or marking your shirt.
  • Use demineralised water, rather than regular tap water.
  • YYou can push the dial up to 150°c max with linen.

Another technique for naturally ‘ironing out’ the creases is putting it in the shower. Well, not while you’re wearing it but leave it in the room when you shower. The moisture will relax the fibres and you can say goodbye to those naturally occurring linen creases.

FYI, OUR BAND COLLAR SHIRT IS SOFT ON YOU AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Band Collar:

  • They’re 100% recyclable, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. However, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. By giving rather than selling, you're contributing to a virtuous cycle and helping those who need it most.
  • Unlike many garments that release microplastics during washing, our Band Collar Shirts have been designed not to do so. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try and incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Band Collar.

Thanks!
