New Shorts Care Guide

In opting for this little beauty, you've made a very wise decision. You've got yourself a proper bit of quality, now let’s make sure it lasts and lasts.

On our end, we've done everything we can to give it the longest life possible, but don't underestimate your role in all this. The maths is simple: the more you look after them, the longer they'll stick around.

Here's how.

Washing

In our opinion, we all wash our clothes too much. We're not saying we should be walking around covered in ketchup, but let's be honest — we've all bunged things in the machine when they still smell of fabric softener. And that's not doing anyone any favours.

We'd recommend a wash every 10-15 wears, maybe less even. Airing them out for a few hours between wears does a surprising amount of the heavy lifting. You, and those around you, probably won't even notice the difference. Your water bill and carbon footprint, on the other hand, might.

When it’s time to wash them, nothing could be easier: pop them in the machine at 30°C on an 800 rpm spin.

As for detergent, our advice is always the same: go for liquid and natural. Our pick is Spring.

Drying

We'll never say it enough: tumble dryers are an ab-so-lute disaster for your clothes. Yes, a disaster. We're lucky enough to have this amazing technology called air, and it happens to be really good at drying things.

When you’re done washing, just hang them up away from direct sunlight. Just 3-4 hours, it’s all it takes.

You can also iron them if needed — just make sure you don't go over 150°C as you’ll damage the fabric.

Are these Shorts transparent?

Yes, but not like that. Since 1 January 2024, the AGEC law requires all textile brands to be transparent about what goes into their products so we can all have a much better idea of exactly what we’re buying. We didn't wait for the legislation to do this, we actually lobbied for it, and we think it’s an important step in the right direction to change the way our industry works. So here are a few extra details about your New Shorts:

  • They're 100% recyclable. If your time together comes to an end, know that your shorts can be fully recycled. That said, we'd suggest thinking about giving them away before recycling them as the longer they are worn, the lower their impact.
  • They don't contain plastic microfibres. Unlike a lot of clothing that sheds microplastics in the wash, our New Shorts have been designed to minimise their environmental impact. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles that wreak havoc on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
  • They don't contain any hazardous substances. Our Shorts respect strict European standards aimed at eliminating harmful substances and chemical treatments for you, the environment, and the people who make them.
  • They don't contain recycled materials. Sometimes we manage to incorporate recycled materials to further reduce the impact of our clothes. Unfortunately that wasn't possible with the New Shorts.

Right, that's that.

How you look after clothes accounts for half their durability, so we'd really recommend investing a bit of time in it. It’s pretty straightforward on this occasion.
