Light Parka care
We did our best and a tad more so you’d stay dry as a bone when it pours. A 100% cotton water-repellent two-ply twist yarn and quilted ripstop lining will do that for you. But it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this combo needs taking care of.
Your local dry-cleaners will know how to take care of your Lightweight Parka (twice a year max is fine), and their professional care should (in theory*) make sure that the Parka breezes through the seasons. It may set you back a few £s or €s but it’s worth it and will keep you dry for decades to come.
Extra tip: Always check your clothes directly as you pick them up from the dry-cleaners as any damage is covered by the cleaner’s policy. Once you step out that door, all claims will be your responsibility.
Washing by hand is also an option.
For that purpose, we suggest you take off the lining and lay your Lightweight Parka flat on the table, all pockets turned inside out. Soak it in warm water and a drop of gentle detergent (like this one) or natural soap.
Use a soft towel and circularly rub the diluted solution on the Lightweight Parka so you don’t damage the fabric. If some areas are particularly dirty, you may use a drop of diluted ammonium (just a drop, don’t go overboard), to give the Lightweight Parka its original shine. Once it’s clean and rinsed, dry your Parka with a towel and leave it in the open air for ½ a day (avoiding direct contact with sunlight).
If you really want to give it a spin in the wash
which is not our preferred option - don’t forget to turn it inside out and select a cold setting (30°C maximum) and to use a small amount of liquid detergent. Close the zips and pockets and unfasten the waist adjustment-cord.
But most importantly, don’t machine dry, bleach or set the machine-spin program to more than 1000 rpm.

After rain comes sunshine...
After a whole season of strolls and washes, the Lightweight Parka’s water-repellent treatment could lose its full powers. We suggest applying a water-repellent treatment once a year. This one works wonders and is also fluoride-free.
Make sure to remove any dirt before you apply the treatment:
- Soapy water + white vinegar for mud stains.
- Solid natural soap for fat stains (oil, sauces…) and let the applied area dry before rinsing with warm water.
- White vinegar and a cloth to pat for sweat marks.
White vinegar + household rubbing alcohol on a cloth for wine, beer stains…
However light a garment, when Parka season is over, just clean it and get it ready for a well-earned rest in your wardrobe. Put it on a strong hanger (made of wood is possible) and keep it out of the light. You can spare it any dust friction by slipping it in a sleeve. It’ll thank you when the time comes.
That’s pretty much it, follow these guidelines and your Parka’ll have your back for years to come. Some TLC, that’s the other secret for durability, the best way to knock it out the park-a.

Thanks !
