How to Look After Your Cord Shirt

Step 1: Washing it

Not exactly breaking news, but this shirt is 100% cotton. Which means you can stick it in the machine on a standard 30° cycle. Want to give it extra protection? Pop it in a mesh laundry bag before it goes in the drum — inside out, ideally. It'll reduce friction and help your shirt stay looking good for longer.

Step 2: Drying it

We'll say it again: tumble dryers are off limits. They'll wreck the fabric — and they're no more effective than good old-fashioned air drying anyway. Set your spin to 600–800 rpm, then hang it somewhere with decent airflow (but out of direct sunlight, please). Job done. It'll be dry in a few hours.

Step 3: Ironing it

If you fancy it, you can run an iron over your shirt at 150°c max to smooth things out. But to protect the cord, we'd recommend ironing on the reverse side.

FYI, OUR CORD SHIRTS AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Cord Shirts:

  • They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing yours for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing it on to a friend, family member or donating it to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
  • No microplastics are released during washing. Unlike many garments, our Cord Shirts have been designed to not release any microplastics. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that are released when worn or washed and have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Cord Shirt.

Thanks!
