When we asked you about your military-inspired legwear, these were the four main issues that kept cropping up…

What You Didn’t Want

1

The fabric wasn’t tough enough

2

The pockets weren’t big enough

3

The cut was too baggy

4

They were uncomfortable

Form AND Function

A COUNTER-CULTURE CLASSIC

These are our version of the classic fatigue pant design. Created as workwear for the US Army in the ‘50s, and re-appropriated by counter-culture types in the ‘60s, they sit slap-bang in the sweet spot between chinos and cargo pants. Perfect.

MADE TO LAST

The Military Pants are made out of 300g/m2 two-ply twist-twill cotton. Translation? They’re really, really tough—making them the perfect no-brainer do-everything trousers, whether you’re cycling into town or weeding the vegetable patch.

SLICKER THAN THE AVERAGE

Contrary to popular belief, hardy trousers don’t need to have the coarse texture of a hessian potato sack. Thanks to the finish on that sateen cotton, the Military Pants have a smooth feel almost verging on Teflon-territory-smoothness. Seriously slick.

STRAIGHT TO THE POINT

Classic trousers should have a classic fit—which is why the Military Pants have that tried-and-tested straight-leg fit. Neither baggy nor slim, they work just as well with canvas pumps as they do with work boots.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR

Those big rectangular patch pockets are perhaps the fatigue’s defining feature, so we made sure ours were just right. Plenty of space… buttons where you need ‘em… optimum oblong shape… do people still say oblong?

PUT TO THE TEST

Like any budding military candidates, the Military Pants endured vigorous training to get to where they are today. After three prototypes, they’re ready for action—even if that does just mean a gentle stroll to the shops.

THE IMPORTANT STUFF

But what about the zip? Good question. It’s made by YKK who are pretty much the Land Rover of the… erm… fly closure world. Those natural horn and corozo buttons are pretty swish too.

CRAFTED WITH CARE

As with a lot of our trousers, these were made in Portugal by the wizzes at Expotime. When it comes to legs and pockets and stitching and stuff, this lot are hard to beat

BUILT FOR LIFE

Like the original fatigue pants, the Military Pants are seriously versatile, at home under a jeep trying to fix an exhaust or sat around the camp fire enjoying a mug of box-wine. Put ‘em on and get living’.
