MADE FROM STERN STUFF
The Ideal Jacket is made from hard-wearing cretonne cotton, woven in France by the good folks at Telatex, who have some 160 years of experience - nothing to sniff at. It’s got somewhat of a charming rustic feel to it, with plenty of character and more than a little grit. Sort of like the Robert Mitchum of the fabric world.
CREASES BE GONE
Whilst the fabric has an almost linen-like texture because it’s made from 240g/m2 cotton, it won’t crease like linen does. Good news for those who hate ironing.
INDIGO-A-GO-GO
We’ve made a denim version too. Made from some particularly tasty midweight 12oz Italian denim, it’ll grow old gracefully, with that indigo dye adding rich visual flavour as it patinates with every wear.
SHORT ‘N’ SHARP
Taking inspiration from vintage chore coats, the Ideal Jacket has a short and snappy shape. It’s boxy, in the best possible way—with a similar shape to a classic Trucker jacket. We didn’t want the collar to let the side down, so it’s been fused, making it tough enough to stand up to a strong wind - should you fancy doing a Cantona.
THE MAGIC NUMBER
Don’t get us wrong, we love pockets—but for a subtle, sharp work jacket, we think three external patch pockets is enough - more than that and you’re in ‘70s photojournalist territory. We went for two solid side pockets — ideal for hip flasks, paperbacks, maybe even your hands — and one chest pocket for hanging your sunnies on. Perfect.
THE INSIDE LINE
There’s also a sneaky little zip-closure inside pocket, perfect for wallets, passports, top-secret documents or coffee shop loyalty cards. That free croissant is just around the corner.
SPLIT THE DIFFERENCE
Like a polo shirt, the Ideal Jacket has got a split hem to make things a bit more comfortable. Now, we know this isn’t the kind of feature people tend to get excited about, but next time you sit down in your nice new jacket and notice how it doesn’t bunch up, you’ll be happy you’ve got ‘em.
OFF THE CUFF
Another detail we’re particularly pleased with is that pleated sleeve—giving your arms plenty of room to move, without sacrificing the jacket’s sharp silhouette.

Delivery costs
We deliver worldwide. For orders in selected European countries* including the UK, we charge a flat fee of 6€ or 9€ irrespective of how many pieces of the same item you order. For deliveries in the rest of Europe and outside of the EU, the cost is 15€.
Easy to change sizes
If you get the wrong size, fear not, we accept returns and exchanges. For orders in Europe these are free, and for countries, in the rest of the world we ask you to pay the return and we will take care of the cost of sending out an exchange. Just log into your Asphalte account and we’ll get that sorted.

Sure, we work hard on our products, but we won’t take it personally if, for whatever reason, you change your mind about the item you’ve preordered. We’re all friends here, you can be honest with us. So long as the item is in its original condition, with tags and packaging intact, you can send it back to us for a full refund. No worries.
