If you've had the good taste to treat yourself to our Winter Trousers, here are a few recommendations to give them the TLC they deserve.
The Basics
First things first, you'll want to hang them on a proper trouser hanger after each wear. Let them air out for an hour or two to get rid of any lingering odours, then pop them in your wardrobe with the rest of your clothes. It's not much effort, but it'll help them keep their shape for years to come. Your trousers will thank you!
Washing
When it comes to cleaning, we strongly recommend dry cleaning. Yes, it costs a bit more, but dry cleaning remains (by far) the best option for wool trousers' longevity. Once every 10-12 wears should do the trick.
Friendly tip: always check your clothes in the shop right after. If you leave the premises, you're essentially "accepting" any damage that might have occurred during cleaning, and repairs will be on your dime. Spot something wrong while you're still at the dry cleaner's? They'll be footing the bill.
If dry cleaning isn't an option, give your trusty trousers a bath in cold soapy water, let them soak for 5 minutes, then rinse with clean water before hanging them by the legs in a well-ventilated spot. Keep them away from direct sunlight if you can.
Ironing
If you've gone with dry cleaning, you can skip this bit. Otherwise, you can smooth out your Trousers (or even create a sharp vertical crease down the leg) with an iron on the wool setting.
To avoid felting the fabric, we suggest putting a layer of cloth between the iron and your precious trousers. Job done!
YOUR WINTER TROUSERS AND THE PLANET
Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Winter Trousers:
- They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing yours for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
- Unlike many garments that release microplastics during washing, our Winter Trousers have been designed not to do so. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
- They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
- They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Winter Trousers.
Thanks!
