You've got the energy, we've got the kit

Being up for it is only half the battle when it comes to sport.

You need kit you can really depend on – whether you're clocking up a couple of kilometres or training for a marathon. And guess what? That's exactly why we created our Sports range.

We wanted to create gear that performs, lasts, is fully traceable and is made in the EU.

That's the promise, here's the proof.

Up top, a breathable T-shirt made from natural fibres

This T-shirt's made of wool. And not just any old wool, ultra-fine Merino clocking in at 17 microns. For context? That's about four times finer than a human hair.

No surprises then that it's soft as you like, and really comfortable to exercise in.

As hikers have known for a very long time, Merino wool is the best-performing natural fibre on the planet. It offers technical properties that rival the top synthetic materials — without a single gram of plastic.

And to top it off, we've gone for a straight cut. It's bang on the ideal length with a super mobile raglan sleeve. It's versatile, it's comfortable, and it moves with you.

Lower half: practical, ultra-technical shorts

Below the belt, it's a whole different story. Friction means natural fibres are out of the question.

Sounds good in theory, but a pair of shorts in Merino wouldn't last more than a few days — and disposable clothes aren't our thing.

So, we rolled our sleeves up and got stuck in to develop a tech fabric that won't lose its cool after a few wears. It took weeks of tinkering, but we landed on something pretty special: a top-performing blend — 73% recycled polyamide and 27% elastane.

Combine tough and stretchy and a load of possibilities open up.

  • Mid-thigh length with a drawcord and an elastic waistband.
  • Integrated bicycle shorts with the same support as our Boxer Briefs.
  • A key pocket on the shorts, a phone pocket on the bicycle shorts.

100% made in Europe

Take a close look at the labels on your sports kit, and we'd bet a crisp tenner they're ALL made the other side of the world. Makes sense — nearly all sportswear comes out of China, Vietnam, India or Bangladesh.

And it doesn't take long to figure out why. Worker exploitation, poverty wages, flimsy environmental regulations, free to pollute, catastrophic energy mixes — the usual cheery suspects.

As always, we've kept it strictly European. The weaving, knitting, make — every step handled in Europe, in full accordance with some of the world's strictest labour and environmental laws. Matters to you, matters to us, so that's non-negotiable. Yes, it comes at a cost, but at least the planet and the people making your clothes won't be footing the bill.

And as always, you'll get fully traceable insights for both the Shorts and the Sports T-shirt right on the product page when preorders open.

A quick word about the logo

Just like with our Triple A Sneakers, we wanted to give the Sports Kit a bit of soul — so we added a logo.

A bit of a calling card — a way to mark Asphalte's grand entrance into sportswear.

It comes courtesy of art director Clément Johanet. We owe him one — and hope you like it, too.

Time to make your way to the blocks, it's not long now

The Sport Shorts and Sports T-Shirt open for preorders next Tuesday at 69€ and 89€. Full kit for 158€. Pretty decent for some cutting-edge kit made in Portugal.

Miss them, and you might get lucky at a future Stock Sale. But they might not be your size and will be priced at 89€ and 119€ to account for the extra logistics. Your call.

All our preorders are first come, first served, so we suggest signing up for the alert below to get in the moment they launch. Move fast and you could be hitting the autumn running track in your new Sports Kit by the second half of October—just in time for those crisp autumn skies.

If you have any questions, just reach out. We're here if you have any questions before, during, or after the launch.

Until Tuesday,

The Asphalte team
