How to Care for Your Wool Scarf

Giving your scarf a long and happy life? Just need your undivided attention for the next couple of minutes.

How do I wash it?

Simple answer: you don't.

Best thing is to take it to the dry cleaners once or twice a year. Job done.

Merino wool is an animal fibre made of keratin, which has this rather brilliant ability to destroy the bacteria that cause those less-than-pleasant odours.

So, if your scarf starts smelling a bit like last night's curry or someone's been using it as an ashtray, just give it a bit of fresh air for a few hours. Keep it out of direct sunlight, though. Goodbye dodgy smells, hello freshness.

If doing absolutely nothing feels wrong, you can hand-wash it at home in water below 30°C. And steer clear of bleach-based detergents, obviously.

Can I tumble dry it?

Yes, you can. Only joking – absolutely not. Let's make this crystal clear: tumble dryers and your wool scarf are mortal enemies.

Lay it flat or hang it on a drying rack. That's it.

What about ironing?

We wouldn't recommend it – you risk permanently flattening that lovely Merino wool. If, for some inexplicable reason, you feel compelled to iron your scarf, keep it at 110°C max. We can't imagine why you'd want to, but there you go.

For the record, our scarves are also soft on the planet

Since January 2024, the AGEC law requires fashion brands to be completely transparent so consumers can make informed purchases. We were ahead of the curve on this one – we've always been open about our products. Here's what you should know about your Wool Scarf:

  • It's 100% recyclable once dismantled – which means that if you stop wearing yours for whatever reason, it can be fully recycled. Though you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing it on to a friend, family member or donating it to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation.
  • It contains zero plastic microfibres – unlike many garments that release these nasties during washing. Our Wool Scarf was designed to minimise environmental impact. Those tiny plastic particles can wreak havoc on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
  • It contains no hazardous materials – it's made in compliance with strict standards to eliminate harmful substances and chemical treatments.
  • It doesn't contain recycled materials – we try to use them wherever possible to reduce our impact, but unfortunately, it wasn't feasible for this particular scarf.

Thanks!
