Care guide for your Sports T-Shirt

The natural properties of Merino wool might make it magical, but your new Sports T-shirt won't hop into the shower by itself. Here's how to care for it properly and keep it in your rotation for years to come.

Easy on the washing

Technically speaking, Merino wool cleans itself. What we mean is that the fibre structure seriously limits bacteria growth on the fabric surface. So all you need to do is air out your Sports T-shirt between wears to freshen it up. In theory, you can wear it 3-4 times before it needs a proper wash.

That said, we'll let you be the judge based on what you get up to in it. Whether you're doing yoga in your living room or trail running in the Alps, your sweat levels are going to vary considerably.

Machine-friendly (with caveats)

Yes, the Sports T-shirt can go in the wash. But there's a but. Merino wool is delicate and demands special attention when washing. We recommend a wool cycle at 20-30°C with gentle spinning (400 rpm maximum).

If you can wash it by hand, even better – just don't wring it out aggressively when you're done. For detergent, liquid and eco-friendly options are your best bet.

Dry flat please

You probably know that knitwear can lose its shape when drying if it's not laid flat. That's down to the weight of water-soaked fibres. To dry your Sports T-shirt, we suggest laying it horizontally on a towel. In just a few dozen minutes, it'll be ready for action again.

No need to iron things out

While ironing isn't forbidden, we think it's completely unnecessary here. Our Merino wool has a natural elasticity that makes the fabric crease-resistant. Even if there were a crease or two, nobody's going to call you out during your morning run.

If you absolutely insist on ironing it, use the "wool" setting and keep it quick and light (you know this fibre isn't a fan of high temperatures).

FYI, OUR SPORTS T-SHIRT AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Sports T-shirts:

  • They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. However, please note: to ensure optimal recycling, you will need to cut out the part of the t-shirt with the "ASP" logo, which is not recyclable as is*.* If you stop wearing yours for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing it on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
  • Unlike many garments that release microplastics during washing, our Sports T-shirts have been designed not to do so. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try and incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Sports T-shirt.

Thanks!
