If you've made it this far, chances are you've treated yourself to our Moleskin Jacket. Thanks for trusting us!
Unlike that shell necklace you bought on the seafront to channel your inner Harry Styles, this is an investment you won't regret.
With one foot planted firmly in tradition and the other in the present, this jacket offers the perfect balance between heritage and modernity. Crafted from thick organic cotton moleskin and assembled in Bulgaria by our partner skilled artisans, we can confidently say your story together has decades ahead of it.
The burning question, of course, is how to look after it. We're getting there, promise.
For cleaning, leave it to the professionals
As you might expect, the best way to refresh your Moleskin Jacket is to entrust it to the dry cleaner.
We know it's a bit of an expense, but it's objectively the best way to maintain its longevity. A good dry clean once or twice a year will do it wonders, and you'll get it back looking good as new every time.
Worth noting: always check the condition of your clothes before leaving the establishment. If you walk out with your jacket under your arm, you're tacitly accepting any potential damage from the cleaning process. If you spot any issues while still on the premises, repairs will be the cleaner's responsibility.
For everything else, it's the usual guidelines:
- always hang it on a wooden hanger when it's not on your shoulders
- store it in a garment bag during spring and summer
- wear it right side out, not like the Fresh Prince, even though the tartan lining is rather handsome
Weather watch
For this new version of the Moleskin Jacket, we've sourced a water-repellent treatment without harmful perfluorocarbons. This means you can navigate a light shower without too much worry.
If you're caught in a downpour, however, we'd still advise seeking shelter. Despite its water repellent finish, we're still talking about a slightly brushed cotton fabric that won't particularly appreciate extended showers.
Clean credentials
Since 1st January 2024, the AGEC law requires fashion industry players to be completely transparent, helping consumers make better-informed purchasing decisions. The good news is we didn't wait for parliament to start telling you about this stuff. Needless to say, we fully support the initiative. So here's some additional information about the Moleskin Jacket:
- It's 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day its services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing yours for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing it on to a friend, family member or donating it to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
- Unlike many garments that release microplastics during washing, our Moleskin Jackets have been designed not to do so. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
- They contain no hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
- They do not contain any recycled materials. We try and incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Moleskin Jacket.
That's everything!
We hope these tips will help you look after your Moleskin Jacket, and that it'll be by your side for decades to come.
We'll check in with you in a few weeks to see how you're getting on.
