First of all: the raw material

Before we even get to the knitting part, the material itself has already done a lot of the heavy lifting.

  • 100% certified merino wool. As you probably know by now, it's the highest-performing natural fibre out there. Among its many unique properties, it's extraordinarily fine.
  • 19.5 microns in diameter. For reference, that's four times finer than a human hair. These sheep are soft as.
  • We combed the stuff. You don’t have to, but it removes impurities and the shorter fibres, resulting in softer, stronger and finer yarns. For us, this is non-negotiable.

Undoubtedly, the knit

Having created a mighty fine fibre, we figured it would only be fair to knit it with the utmost finesse.

  • A stable, tight jersey. Tiny "V" shapes on the front, little waves on the reverse? Yup, good old jersey. It's dense, reliable, stable and will last for years. Exactly what you asked for.
  • A super-fine weight. That word again: fine. It keeps popping up for good reason. We knitted this jersey in a 16-gauge. In the knitting game, gauge roughly translates to the thickness of the yarn used. The higher the number, the finer the yarn. For context, a chunky Irish jumper’s knitted in 3 or 4 gauge. 16 is exceptionally silky.

As tidy as you like

Tucked in or worn out, your Extrafine Knit will always look the part.

  • Fitted, without overdoing it. It’s flattering through the chest without being tight or pulling in strange places.
  • The length is spot on. We calibrated the Extrafine Knit to sit mid-seat. It looks good worn out, and stays put tucked in.
  • A clean set-in sleeve. The tidy armhole makes all the difference.
  • A balanced neckline. It’s cut to sit just under the neck without feeling restrictive. A tubular rib collar construction provides the sort of stability that means the Extrafine Knit will last for years and years. This collar is staying put.
