The Canvas Overshirt

A master stroke

• Two warp threads, two weft threads, woven tightly together. Good canvas is dense, compact and very strong, which is why it’s been used to make things like army tents and ships' sails through the years. If something needs to be hardy, make it from canvas.
• A canvas that's fit for purpose. We went for a lighter weave than the one we use for Canvas Trousers. It comes in at 310g/m², just the right balance between comfort and strength.
• A cloth made close to home. This canvas was spun, woven and dyed in France. We're proud to champion local supply chains, and we know that matters to you too.

Straight, not wide

• Cut for layering. As the name suggests, the Canvas Overshirt is made to layer up. Chuck it over a T-shirt, a Henley or a thin jumper.
• A roomy cut. Straight, with space to add a layer without being baggy.
• Stick to your usual size. No need to upsize. We designed the patterns so you can slip it over your clothes as is.

We've pulled out all the stops

A French Canvas Overshirt deserves finishing touches done properly. So we went all in:

• Rock-solid buttons. Made from biobased materials, they're cross-stitched and shank-mounted on an Ascolite machine. They’re staying put.
• Reliable pockets. The two patch pockets with flaps are topstitched for maximum strength. Load them up, they won't let you down.
• Tidy cuffs. A button so you can roll them up, a comfort pleat for ease of movement, and enough room to roll them up. Clean as clean gets.
• The killer detail. We’ve added an 8 cm side split at the bottom of each side seam. It’s a shirtmaking technique that looks good and adds even more comfort.
