A Tender Fortress

Into your wool shell

s you’re excited to slip into and reluctant to take off? That’s because it’s so thick and cosy that it makes you feel invincible. Like you’re clad in your own woollen armour. A jumper that stands apart from the other glorified goalposts. Luckily, this one is made just for you.

100% Merino Wool

If you’re familiar with Asphalte, you know we’re in awe of Merino wool. And if you’ve had the pleasure of wearing the stuff, you’ll understand where we’re coming from. Soft, warm, flexible, durable, self-cleaning, and thermoregulating – it’s pretty much everything you could ask of a material. A winter companion you don’t want to be without.

It’s Heavy-Duty

Making a 100% Merino wool jumper, certainly. But why bother making it whisper-thin? We can’t answer that, it’s never something we’ve done. Having quality wool is not enough, you need to back it up with thickness and density. At least we think so. So, we went all in. When you pull on the Thick Turtleneck, you’ll be cloaked in nearly 800 grams of premium Merino wool. Now that’s what we call a proper winter measure.

A Balanced Cut

We went for a classic, straight cut that’s not too long so you can comfortably wear it under a coat without it peeking out. It hits just right at the hips. We made it in a jersey knit for a great drape that won’t sag over time. Heavy knitwear will of course stretch over time. But this tight, dense stitch minimises any stretching, no matter how often you wear or wash it.

The Grand Collar

Ample, generous, soft - we’re not talking about the qualities of a good tarte tatin but the rather moreish Thick Turtleneck collar. Knitted in the same rib as the body, it’s proportioned just right to avoid the dreaded beard-scratch, and any strangling sensation whilst actually standing up. No mean feat.

Crafted with Care

Set-in sleeves, a balanced neckline, tough rib knit, and strong seams, all meticulously executed by our trusty Portuguese partners Inarbel. We went all out to create a cosy armour that’ll keep you warm for years. Treat it right, and there’s no doubt that this turtleneck will be your winter companion forever.

Fab Four Colours

We’ve covered all the bases when it comes to colour. You’ve got classic navy, versatile marled grey, fresh off-white, and a punchy burgundy. There’s simply something for everyone.

A Little Wool TLC

A thick wool jumper like this deserves special care, especially when you’ve got 770 grams of Merino in your hands. You can confidently machine wash on a wool cycle set to 20°C. Don’t spin-dry, dry it flat in a well-ventilated area.

That’s Winter Sorted

And the next. You won’t wear the Thick Turtleneck every single day this winter, but every time you do you’re going to be so pleased you are. This generous dollop of 100% Merino is a cold-weather antidote, a sanctuary of warmth and softness - simply put: a damn good jumper. Get ready to enjoy.
