Introducing the Perfect Jumper’s summer sidekick.

Fully organic cotton, ready for the warmer season

The problems you've had with your summer jumpers in the past.

1

They lose their shape (especially around the elbows)

2

They end up all twisted by autumn

3

They tend to pill

4

The seams give up the ghost

In the summertime…

The Perfect Jumper's little brother

The Perfect Jumper is to Asphalte what De Niro is to Scorsese: it's hard to imagine one without the other. It's the first piece we launched back in 2016, with around 35,000 keeping you warm to this day and a great source of pride at Asphalte HQ. The thing is, being somewhat of a trusted heavyweight, our Perfect Jumper is a dense knit, which makes for more limited wear between May and October. So prompted by you loyal creators, we've come up with one that will work when the mercury rises above 15°C: Here comes the Summer Perfect Jumper.

Compact 100% organic cotton yarn

The major difference between our Perfect Jumper and this Summer Perfect Jumper is the raw material. Here, we're using a much more hot-weather-ready 100% organic cotton fibre. Naturally soft, breathable and hypoallergenic, it has spring and summer written all over it. It’s spun in a compact way to limit the dreaded pilling and the sagging effect on the sleeves. Broadly speaking, this is a spinning process in which the fibres are compressed by low pressure. We end up with a much more hard-wearing yarn, which is also less 'hairy' and has a better hold. What's in it for you? Less fuzz, better fit, and durability.

A consistent cut

Since you might be inclined to wear this jumper directly on your skin during the day, and maybe with a light Tee for chilly evenings, we worked on the cut to avoid it being too fitted. There's nothing worse than a sticky jumper come the first ray of sunshine. The result: a slightly tailored jumper neither fitted nor baggy, the best balance of comfort and elegance.

What’s up its sleeves?

We didn’t want to get in the way of you and your daily calisthenics even if that’s just tying up your shoelaces. So we opted for one of the least restrictive armholes out there: the saddle shoulder. Like the raglan, it runs up to the neckline but takes on a sharper angle at the collarbone. This little band across the trapezius will allow you to raise your arms without showing your belly button, which is important. Keywords: Ease and comfort.

100% hand-knit

When it comes to knitwear, there are basically two ways of doing things: "cut and sew" and hand knitting. In the first case, the garment parts are cut from large rolls of material, then sewn together to make the whole piece. In the second case, also known as 'fully fashioned', the parts are knitted and then assembled by hand, without any seams whatsoever. On top of being more economical and avoiding waste, this method offers a cleaner finish, enhances the garment’s durability and prevents it from twisting out of shape in a heartbeat. We don't need to tell you which one we went for, do we?

A seriously good ribbing

For the sleeve-roller-uppers out there, whether it's to eat, we've added a touch of elastane into the first 2-3 rows of our ribs so that they keep their shape over time. We're officially saying it: no more sagging ribbings on the cuffs.

5 shades of Riviera

For the Summer Perfect Jumper to live up to its name, we worked up a pretty palette of five colours that smell of holidays on Mediterranean coast. An essential navy, a green borrowed from the laurels of the coast, a cream reminiscent of the Riviera limestone, a sky blue that lives up to its name and a beige modelled on the beaches of Provence. Can you hear the cicadas yet?

Handle with care

Compact yarn or not, this Summer Perfect Jumper is a knitted garment, which inevitably makes it more delicate than a woven piece. We recommend washing it at 30°C max. followed by a gentle 400 rpm spin. To keep it looking and feeling fresh, lay it flat to dry al fresco. Summer’s great for that.

You can book your holidays

If you’ve been delaying the Perfect Jumper’s inevitable summer hibernation by singing “who loves the sun”, you can now look forward to its summer-ready cousin. The latest addition to the jumper tag team will have your back when you’re sweating it.
