A Suede Bomber that won't let you down

Getting the Suede Bomber you deserved required a bit of extra care. And so we refined and tweaked our prototypes like there was no tomorrow. The result is a swanky bit of outerwear, that solves the age-old mystery of what’s on the other side of leather with extra flair.

A substantial slice of suede

Suede jackets make us think of ranchers, truckers, bikers. Fellas like that have no need for flimsy clothing. And while your daily commute isn’t as treacherous as a cattle drive across the plains, you still want clothing you can rely on. This is a substantial suede that drapes nicely, and needn’t be babied.

We tried the rest, and chose the best

This not being our first venture into suede jacket territory, we already had a fair amount of research to go on. But never ones to rest on our laurels, we tested three more tanneries. Result: this bomber is a full Italian job starting with a premium choice of veg-tanned suede from Italian tannery, Mastrotto. Molto bene.

Everything in perfect balance

You might have heard us mention the dreaded Alan Partridge Zone (or APZ, for those in the know). This is where those blousy, shapeless shearling jackets live. This zone must be avoided at all costs, and it extends beyond your local roadside hotel. The fit we’ve developed here is carefully tailored, creating a nice, neat silhouette that’s not too snug.

Reinforced ribbing

So you don’t have to worry about the suede giving out, but what about the ribbing? It’s often the collars and hems that are the first things to go. Worry no more. The ribbing on the Suede Bomber is not only durable, but will keep its shape nicely and while it’s seriously sturdy, this is far from a straight-jacket: you can do all your own stunts in this one.

Seams you can feel certain about

Same goes for the seams. You could have two pieces of the strongest material in the word, but if they’re attached by a few inches of shonky thread your jacket’s not going to stay together. As usual, we’ve reinforced stress points so your jacket will take the strain without breaking a sweat.

Pocket precision

Rather than flap pockets which can look a bit messy, we’ve gone for sleek double-welted pockets that don’t spoil the line of the jacket. And, because we care about details, the pockets are lined with the same top-quality organic cotton as the rest of the jacket.

Doppio zippo

Which is Italian for ‘double zip’ we understand. The front of the jacket fastens with a double YKK zip that can be undone from the top or the bottom. Until you’ve had a jacket with a double YKK zip, you can’t fully appreciate how life changing this can be.

Viva Italia

We don’t just settle for the first factory we visit, you know. We like to do the rounds, at least four this time round, until we’re certain we’re working with just the right people. On this occasion, just the right people happened to be the second-to-none jacket technicians over at Pellemoda in Italy.
