Summer Layering At Its Finest

As ideal as a thrown-on, as it is on its own.

Making limp polos a thing of the past

The collar doesn’t hold up

The fit’s too loose

They stretch and never find their original fit

 The Fabric isn’t breathable

The ultimate summer garment

In tall cotton

It’s our first ever 100% cotton jumper. Growing cotton can be a strain on the environment, so we opted for an organic yarn for the garment’s body to take a weight off the planet’s shoulders.

Top yarn

The yarn is a “cotton dry”, which means the thread’s twisted a few times so it stays true to form, durability is key you say. It also means it has a smooth, warm and, yes, dry feel, which makes it perfect for those unpredictable summer evenings.

Italian elegance

Thanks to the Milano stitch, we've not only delivered a Polo Jumper that boasts a denser weave than the norm, but one that's more durable and breathable than most too. Traditional Italian methods never grow old do they? Like a well-made Espresso, a Margherita pizza or Andrea Pirlo swinging a 50-yard diagonal. They just get it right.

A collar that stands tall

A collar can really make or break a Polo Jumper, which is why we've taken the utmost care in crafting ours to perfection. Say goodbye to limp and lacklustre collars, and instead welcome in a sleek Milano collar, hand-linked for the ultimate finish.

Let it breathe

You told us that comfort is paramount when it comes to the Polo Jumper, so we opted for a 3-button opening and a regular hem. You'll be happy to feel the breeze blowing through this garment on those particularly hot days as it's quite a nice feeling if we're being honest.

The perfect fit

Tailored to perfection, our Polo Jumper offers up a straight and classic fit, as it should be. Crafted with 450g of durable ”dry cotton”, it not only fits right but sits right too. No hanging on your lumps and bumps, just pure unadulterated Polo Jumper.

Stay in shape

All too often, when you find that jumper that fits nicely and looks the part, nothing quite slashes through one's heart like the feeling of pulling it out of the washing machine to find it's gone all skew-whiff. Luckily, with our Polo Jumper, cold wash at 30°C and that won't happen. That's one less thing to worry about.

A European adventure

Utilising high-quality long fibre cotton, our Polo Jumper was then spun and dyed by EmilCottoni in Italy before embarking to the South West corner of Europe for a build of the highest order. No one quite makes knitwear like the Portuguese do, and the job that our friends at Lipimalhas did on the Polo Jumper is no exception.

Versatility is key

An all-day BBQ turns into early evening drinks around your friend's new and quite fancy chiminea, and you need a garment that serves both environments equally as well, enter the Polo Jumper. Perfect working alone as it is a part of a team. A renaissance garment.

A smooth Polo Jumper not one of Granny’s itchy knits.

The team

Four of us started Asphalte back in 2016. With a few years of experience in fashion under our belts, we wanted to make clothes, but not just any old clothes. Well-made clothes, designed to last, using great materials and made in good conditions. The guys we wanted to kit were our mates, who liked clothes but who weren't willing to go all out on a pair of jeans. We send them a survey to find out what they expected from a brand. Their answers were so enlightening that we opened the questionnaires up to everyone. Best decision we ever made.

Since then, you've been at the start of every clothes we make. We ask for your opinion on a product before we get busy with the design process, and that's the way forward for us.

We're not here to reinvent the wheel. We're here to make your wardrobe classics with the best materials and the best manufacturers. Above all, we're here to make things simple, stuff that you'll still be able to wear in ten years' time.

Over the last 4 years, we've gradually put together the dream team to make it happen on a larger scale. Today, there are 40 of us working to make your favourite clothes, in a quality that was once reserved for a handful of men.

We'd particularly like to thank the crew who helped us make the Polo Jumper look its best from every angle :
