True to form, we’ve gone “modern vintage”, so that this jacket still looks fresh half a century from now. We’ve kept its lineage intact, just reworking certain proportions and finishes to best meet today’s and tomorrow’s demands. We’ve sharpened up the fit; it’s a lot cleaner than what you’d get back in the day. That said, it’s not tight. We wanted to keep the “hunting jacket” soul alive—just without all the extra cartridge pockets and places to stash dead birds. What you get is a clean, straight cut with enough room to move around freely, minus the clay-pigeon champion energy.
Short answer: yes. Near-indestructible moleskin, woven from organic cotton; classic corduroy from France on the collar, cuffs, and pockets; stitched together in the EU by Pelintex; heavy cord-thread topstitching; metal buttons and tough zips; and seams built like a tank. This isn’t just a handsome bit of kit—preordering lands you a lifetime investment.
Where would you like to start? It’s directly inspired by the French hunting jackets of the 19th and 20th centuries—the sort of items that shout ‘heritage’ before you’ve even put them on. We’re talking about genuine French wardrobe icons here. This is actually the second time Asphalte’s released this model. First time round: runaway success—though quite a few of you wished it had a water repellent treatment. So, for this reissue, we’ve added a water repellent finish without any of the nasty perfluorocarbons you’d expect, so you’re covered for the odd downpour. It’s not a raincoat, but you’ll sneak through the odd shower just fine.
How does preordering work?
Basically, it means you buy the garment before it’s produced. By pre‑ordering, you’re the one launching the production.
With this system, we only produce what’s sold, so we avoid overproduction and can offer you an excellent quality‑price ratio.
