It doesn’t get any sleeker than these sneakers
A sharp pair of sneakers to wear anywhere, with anything… or almost anything
Here are the main problems you told us you had with your sneakers :
1
They are lacking in the comfort department.
2
The outsoles do a runner
3
The leather isn’t up to the job
4
They don’t go the extra mile
Another one we didn’t compromise on.
Italian do leather better
We opted for full-grain leather for the smooth white version and calfskin suede for the other colours. Everything courtesy of the chaps at Mastrotto, Italy, the same lot who aced our Solid Sneakers. This is seriously hard-wearing yet supple leather that combines the toughness you need with ultimate comfort. Time to treat your feet.
Timeless lines
The Legend Sneakers have an elegant, refined and timeless shape. They’re well-made without being flashy. All-purpose without being plain. We wanted to make a pair of trainers that’ll still look the part in ten years’ time. We’re pretty sure we pulled it off. Form and function built-in.
Hard step, soft on the planet
The sole is made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU for the non-boffins out there). More excitingly, this TPU is recycled from old shoes. These are reincarnated soles, if you will. That makes these sneakers easier on the planet than most. TPU is extremely hardy, often used for making work boots and the like. It’s seriously non-slip and ultra durable.
Sole mates
The sole is attached using the Strobel technique, a process tried and tested on our fan-faves the Solid Sneakers. In layman’s terms, this means that the sole is sewn to the base of the shoe and is held in place by a tough thread for a stronger and more durable hold. In short: they are tough.
The toe-cap, the tip of the… shoe
The clue’s in the name on this one… Most trainers tend to get holes in the toes after a few months of walking. The added toe-cap offers a little reinforcement, keeping the business end of these sneakers in… er, business?
Slippers to go out with
All that durability needs to be matched by comfort, so we added a small cushion in the heel area, offering some extra padding. You won’t want to take these off for bed, but you probably should…
Breathe in breathe out
We added some ducts on the sides, meaning there’s a bit of airflow when you are on the go. You won’t have to seal these off for decontamination after a big day out. Handy bonus: the vents also look pretty neat.
It’s all in the details
We worked hard, over two years, to come up with a lean, clean pair of sneakers.. But we also wanted them to become classics. And classics have to be recognisable, without being over-worked. So we added a few subtle, refined touches. Things like the Asphalte logo on the sole, or the understated Asphalte lettering on the heel. Classy, not flashy. That’s the way to do it.
