The Jungle Jacket
The concrete Jungle found its new master
Inspired by the M-43, the military jacket, not the Hungarian motorway.
Take the character of an M-43 and the comfort of a lightweight jacket and you got yourself the Jungle Jacket. A vintage look for a versatile utility jacket you can rely on for 9-5 missions and heavy-duty tasks.
We heard that your jackets are losing the battle of time.
The fit was too bulky
It didn't look vintage enough
The quality wasn't there
The fabric was too thin
Fix up look sharp
Keeping it OG
We snatched an original M-43 jacket to base our design on but made ours in a lightweight yet still hard-wearing fabric, as that’s the make of a proper Jungle Jacket. Everything else is as vintage-inspired as it should.
That means four flap pockets, two at the waist and two on the top, that all close with American button snaps and are topstitched. You can trust them to hold your essentials. Out of the barracks, kept strong with bartacks.
Through thick and thin
Time to say bye-bye to bulkiness and aye-aye to a nice sleek fit that's closer to a work jacket. So no matter how much daily equipment you put into the 4 pockets, you'll keep looking sharp.
Fortified seams with double stitching can withstand even the heaviest duty, be that digging up flower beds or filling your pockets with trail mix for a Sunday hike with the boys.
Your everyday shield
This Jacket needs to protect you, especially from breaking into a sweat. That's why it's made from 100% organic cotton weighing 275gr/m2, making it a robust fighter that still keeps you cool and agile. It's cut from the same kind of fabric that the army used for the M-65.
The devil is in the details
Even the best fabric can't stand on its own without the right finish. We double topstitched every seam and added a double cross-top stitch to the collar for extra protection. The breast pockets are gusseted and close with American snap buttons. A double button on the cuffs et voilà.
Italians do it better. As in fabric dying. That's why we trust them time and time again. Your Jacket won’t turn pale at the first fright. If you already own one of our pieces, then you know what we mean.
We love a military heritage style, so we tried our best to pay homage to the original while fixing it up for your needs. With its sharper cut, lightweight fabric and fortified details, our Jacket’s ready to be dressed up for the urban jungle.
A crisp white shirt, slick tailored pants, and the Jungle Jacket and you're ready to face another day at work. Throw it on over a simple tee, chinos and sneakers for an off-duty look with the boys at the bar. A look that keeps on giving.
By the Jungle Book
We sourced the organic cotton from a certified grower in Turkey. It guarantees that the workers operate in a safe environment, free from discrimination and child labour. The cotton's also organic which is less energy and water-intensive than regular cotton. Finally, no nasty products are used in its treatment, so it’s safer for the workers and the environment.
And because we also care about the people behind our cotton, the certification OEKO-TEX guarantees a safe environment for those who work in all our supply chain.
Hard at work
Our supplier Beppetex worked hard to find the best organic cotton fields for us. This cotton comes from Turkey and we can be sure that they are up to the highest standards of working conditions, thanks to the most stringent certification.
We got the best neighbours
The masters of fabric, the Italians, just know what to do with cotton. And to get the final product, the different parts are assembled in Romania, by our friends from Tanex that made our Peacoat and B10 Bomber.
Our aim is to always give you as much information as possible on the clothes we make so you can make an informed decision before preordering. Four of us started Asphalte back in 2016. With a few years of experience in fashion under our belts, we wanted to make clothes, but not just any old clothes. Well-made clothes, designed to last, using great materials and made in good conditions. The guys we wanted to kit were our mates, who liked clothes but who weren't willing to go all out on a pair of jeans. We send them a survey to find out what they expected from a brand. Their answers were so enlightening that we opened the questionnaires up to everyone. Best decision we ever made.
Since then, you've been at the start of every clothes we make. We ask for your opinion on a product before we get busy with the design process, and that's the way forward for us.
We're not here to reinvent the wheel. We're here to make your wardrobe classics with the best materials and the best manufacturers. Above all, we're here to make things simple, stuff that you'll still be able to wear in ten years' time.
Over the last 4 years, we've gradually put together the dream team to make it happen on a larger scale. Today, there are 40 of us working to make your favourite clothes, in a quality that was once reserved for a handful of men.
