The Fresco Suit

The suit that keeps it fresh

The problems with suits

The fabric isn’t breathable

They crease easily

The fit isn’t great

They don’t age well

Jacket first

Al fresco

We cut the suit from a British cool wool fabric called Fresco. In Italian ‘fresco’ means fresh. We're off to a good start.

Cut to the fit

The jacket is designed for an easy feel. It's fitted but you’ll have enough room to move about in it.

Facing America

A half-canvas construction with an American facing. What's this all about? Well it's lighter than a classic facing and gives the jacket an impeccable drape.

Wear up, wear down

Wear as a suit, or the jacket separately with jeans or chinos, and, as the temperature dials up, why not swim shorts? Maybe not but you could get carried away.

Deep dive

We designed the jacket with patch pockets that go deep (for whatever you want to put in them) and a 7.5cm-high collar to give a contemporary look.

A neapolitan flavour

To give the jacket a supple structure we went for a Neapolitan shoulder. Prego.

The case for travel

Fresco is a lightweight fabric that hardly creases. The yarn is twisted 100s of times to make it super resilient. So when you get out of the car, or off the plane, you arrive without a crease in sight. Lightweight, but heavy stuff.

It's all in the detail

The buttons are made of natural horn in a light brown shade, and we've kept the buttonholes closed for easy alterations.

What about the trousers ?

A tapered leg

Just the right fit for comfort. Perfect round the calves and enough room in the thighs.

The length you need

The trousers are delivered unhemmed so you can choose the length and style of hem you want at your local alteration specialists. The inside leg measures 92 cm.

Belting options

Button tab side-adjusters mean you can wear your trousers without a belt. We also put belt loops in case you do.

Dig the pockets

The pockets are lined with a strong viscose and are deep enough not to lose your mobile.

Zipping up the details

The buttons, like for the jacket, are a light brown shade in natural horn. The zip is from YKK, solid.

Pocket the classic

The discrete back pockets are jetted for an elegant finish. The classic look has its good points from time to time.

Cool & fresco

The summer wedding marathon, we've been there. And even if the cousin of the bride doesn’t give you a second look, at least your legs will be cool.

Wear together or separatly

Championing manufacturing

More than BAA

100% Merino wool fabric. The softest of wools, very breathable and with a good drape. Its natural elasticity allows the jacket to hang to perfection.

Let's twist again

The fabric is from Hardy Minnis, suppliers to the Queen, no less. They know a thing of two about weaving wool. To create Fresco, the wool fibres are twisted tightly, 100s of times, in pairs. The result: a yarn that's durable that can be woven into a fabric that allows maximum ventilation and hardly creases.

Buttoned down

For the trousers, we went for a 100% viscose lining. It's natural, it's soft, it does the job. And we kept with same natural horn buttons we developed in Italy.

Carousing in Italy

We then send the fabric and trims to our manufacturing partner set up by Alberto Caruso in Eastern Europe. He's one of the kings of the suit world.

3 colors available, no easy choices

Navy pinstripe

For those of you looking for a stripe of originality. A slightly lighter blue than the plain navy.

The team

Back in 2016, 4 of us started Asphalte. Together we had some good experience in  fashion, designing, producing and running a brand but we wanted to do this differently. We wanted to make durable clothes that were made to last, from amazing materials in good working conditions.

We wanted to create a brand for were our mates, people who love clothes but aren’t ready to take out a loan to buy a pair of jeans. So we sent them a questionnaire to find out exactly what they wanted and the answers were so enlightening that we opened it up to everyone. And that became how we do things - by asking you.

Ever since you’ve all been at the centre of our decision-making. The starting point of our creative process is asking you want you like/dislike, want/don’t want and that’s never going to change. We’re not looking to reinvent the wheel. We’re here to make the best possible versions of all the classics you could possibly want in your wardrobe using the best materials and manufacturers. Above all, we’re here to keep things simple, to make durable clothing that will last without looking out of place in 10 years time.

Over 4 years we’ve put together a ridiculous team to blow it up. Today there’s 40 of us all with the shared mission of making your favourite cloths in a quality that until now has been the reserved of the select few who could afford it. Now we all can.
