The Baseball T-Shirt
A certified home run
We’ve knocked it out the park
What you didn’t want
The colours were too dull
They were too baggy
They lost their shape
The cotton didn’t cut the mustard on your hotdog
The starting line-up
It’s a jersey thing
You don’t need to be Putsy Caballero to know that hearty, comfortable fabric is crucial when you’re swinging a bat. That’s why we opted for heavyweight 220g/m2 organic jersey cotton. You’ll thank us when you make it to the World Series.
Sharp, not slouchy
Sportswear can sometimes stray pretty far into ‘slouchy’ territory. Not here though. Our t-shirt has a sharp, tailored fit that’s anything but big and baggy. Yep, there’s room to move, but it’s a long way from Homer Simpson’s muumuu.
No ‘arm done
If the Colonel’s secret blend of herbs and spices is what makes KFC, KFC, then it’s those raglan sleeves that make a Baseball T-Shirt, a Baseball T-Shirt. These sweeping sleeves, which run diagonally down from the collar, were originally added for extra arm-movement, and are still useful today—whether you’re pitching in the major leagues, or just delving into a mega-bucket.
One tasty sandwich
It’s a well-known fact—absolutely no one likes a stretched or misshapen collar. To put a stop to this once and for all, we added an extra-layer of jersey in between the ribbing to make things extra tough. Think of it a bit like a comfortable cotton sandwich, without the mayo.
A real curveball
Like raglan sleeves, curved hems are another subtle detail from back in the sepia-toned glory days of baseball. We kept ours relatively restrained as far as curves go, but you don’t need a geometry set to see there’s a slight gentle curve going on.
The shape of things to come
Shape-shifting—not a bad skill for superheroes, but it isn’t a feature you want your clothes to have, is it? Thanks to that chunky jersey fabric, our Baseball T-Shirt will always stay in shape. Whether you do is a different matter...
Contrasting sleeves are another trademark baseball detail we were keen to keep. We’re not sure of the original reason behind them (apart from garnering nods of quiet appreciation from spectators), but they’ve got a certain ‘70s upstate New York flavour to them that we’re big fans of—especially in those classic colours you picked out. Fire up that wood-panelled station wagon.
No pesty pesticides
Our Baseball T-Shirt is made from organic cotton. That means no GMOs or pesticides were used, so it’s safer for the environment, the workers, the wearer and the local wildlife. It takes a lot less water to grow organic crops too.
A minimal masterpiece
We like sportswear on the more sophisticated end of the spectrum, and judging by your feedback, so do you. Sure, we could have written ‘Yankees’ on the front in massive letters, but when a shirt looks this good, what more does it need?

Four of us started Asphalte back in 2016. With a few years of experience in fashion under our belts, we wanted to make clothes, but not just any old clothes. Well-made clothes, designed to last, using great materials and made in good conditions. The guys we wanted to kit were our mates, who liked clothes but who weren't willing to go all out on a pair of jeans. We send them a survey to find out what they expected from a brand. Their answers were so enlightening that we opened the questionnaires up to everyone. Best decision we ever made.
Since then, you've been at the start of every clothes we make. We ask for your opinion on a product before we get busy with the design process, and that's the way forward for us.
We're not here to reinvent the wheel. We're here to make your wardrobe classics with the best materials and the best manufacturers. Above all, we're here to make things simple, stuff that you'll still be able to wear in ten years' time.
Over the last 4 years, we've gradually put together the dream team to make it happen on a larger scale. Today, there are 45 of us working to make your favourite clothes, in a quality that was once reserved for a handful of men.
