Well-Cut Shorts, Built for an Endless Summer.

We’ve all been there before, and we will be again in a few months… The temperature’s rising and you’re left scrabbling about for any clothes that might help you stay cool. The problem is, staying cool and looking cool are often at odds with each other. That’s where the Classic Shorts come in.

• How short should shorts be? It’s a question that’s preoccupied homo sapiens since early man decided to show a bit of a leg and hacked the ends of his goat-skin slacks with a sharpened rock. Too short and you’re in AC/DC territory. Too long and it’s all a bit Games Workshop. We settled things once and for all. The Classic Shorts sit just above the knee, with enough length to allow for a turn-up if that’s what you’re into. No school caps or wallet chains needed.

• Sure, the length’s a crucial aspect of the fit, but it was far from the only bit of leg geometry we had to tackle and get right. You told us to swerve anything snug-fitting and to keep well clear of board-short-bagginess. So we made sure the Classic Shorts sat in the sweet spot, giving you enough room to move, without swamping your legs. On top of that, we carried over all the fine-tuned details from our chinos to make sure the little things ace the taste test too. ‘Sharp’, ‘suave’ and ‘sophisticated’ aren’t words usually associated with shorts, but these aren’t your regular shorts.

• With shorts this good, we couldn’t keep it to just one material. The Classic Shorts come in linen, twill, and seersucker - all provided by our trusted partner producers. Contrary to popular belief, shorts don’t have to lose their zest after a few spins in the washing machine. The linen and seersucker materials are thread-dyed, while the twill’s roll-dyed - what does all of that mean to non fabric-freaks? Well, it means the colour you pick when you buy them is the colour they’ll stay. No risk of these losing their oomph mid-Margarita.

• Scrambling down to the beach... Cycling into town to pick up a disposable BBQ... Wading through a stream to retrieve a wayward football... Shorts put up with a lot. Even more reason to ensure that ours will last you for years. They might be made from lightweight materials, but don’t fret, they scored reassuringly high in the vaunted rub test. To be extra safe we went with thick thread topstitching and bartacks to reinforce the typical trouble spots. These are shorts made to go the distance. They’ll be by your side this summer, and for many to come.

As you’ve probably worked out by now, we didn’t call these the Classic Shorts for nothing.
