A jacket that’s ready for anything.
September 30, 2022
If the weather’s all over the place – which it often is – then make sure your jacket isn’t. A dependable outer layer that keeps out the rain, wind, and cold isn’t the most revolutionary idea, but oddly enough, it remains hard one to find.
Imagine a jacket so reliable, so multi-talented in the all-weather arena, that you never had to consult the meteorologists before setting off for the shops again. Goodbye 15 weather apps clogging your phone up, goodbye reading tea leaves, goodbye asking your local soothsayer. When your jacket’s reliable, you just shrug it on and head out the door, safe in the knowledge that it’ll withstand whatever’s coming over the horizon.
That’s the sort of confidence money can’t buy. Oh, wait… actually, it can. You can buy our Winter Parka and bask in it.
No dodgy Parkas here
As always, we’ve followed your sage advice. Here’s what you wanted to see in a perfect parka:
1. A fabric that looks good and works hard
2. A tailored fit
3. It keeps you dry
4. It keeps you warm
No rain, no gain
The Winter Parka’s outer layer is made from a weighty 330g/m2 organic cotton that’s super hard-wearing. It’s woven into a smooth Moleskine material, turned on reverse for extra softness. In the rigorous lab tests, it scored 4.5 out of 5 for pilling, and 4 out of 5 for rubbing. Not bad at all.
The cotton has been given a water-repellent treatment to ensure you stay dry. And best of all, the treatment is fluoride-free, so this Parka comes without nasty chemicals in the mix. A few passes with an iron every now and then will keep the water resistance on point.
Pull cord in case of emergency
We’ve given the Winter Parka’s hood a lot of thought: its studied design ensures a tidy fit and means it won’t billow and blow away at the slightest sniff of a breeze. When things get really hectic - there’s a drawcord built in, making it storm-level-sturdy. Far from a fair weather friend, this hood.
Better than a silver lining
A lining that can easily be whipped out, then popped back in is the sort of handy feature one can get too used to. You’ll start to wonder why all your jackets don’t have one.
This one’s cut short, for extra comfort, and is made from a tough ripstop cotton that fastens to the Parka’s outer via a lightweight zip system. Pretty hi-tech. It’s got raglan sleeves and a nice cut, allowing a tidy drape that’s so good you’ll want to wear it solo.
Pad it out
The liner is quilted, padded with more of those feel-good recycled polyester fibres from Taiwan. This means top-notch heat insulation. So, assuming you wear them together, the Parka tag-team not only help you stay dry, but warm too. Talk about reactive outerwear.
You know us, we like pockets. There’s nothing worse than buying a nice new jacket, only to find it’s short on pocket space. We believe that no one should have to experience this crushing form of jacket disappointment, so we’ve made sure that pocket space is ample:
Two large patch pockets on the hips - fastened with press studs, two handwarmer pockets - handy for, errr… warming hands, and a handyverticalzipperpocket on the inside, too.
Signed, Sealed, Delivered
It’s all well and good having a sturdy water-resistant outer, but if things aren’t sealed up properly then water will inevitably find its way in a downpour. Nothing worse than those cold rivulets inside a toasty top. To avoid them, we’ve added a high collar that fastens with press studs, a storm flap over the front zip, and hidden ribbing inside the cuffs – we call that one the ‘moped aficionado special.’
Five colours, they all keep you dry
While the lining is khaki across the board, the Winter Parka’s tough-guy outer comes in three colours - all classics of the jacket genre. So there you are, the Parka in all its water-resistant, warming glory. Goodbye weather-related fretting, hello classic Winter Parka. All you have to do is pick...
- Navy – Look classy on your Alpine rambles.
- Military Green – Reporting for duty.
- Beige – Disappear into the dunes.
Rust – In rust we trust, and so did a lot of you in the questionnaire. So here you go.
Black - A stealthy winter sidekick for those seeking a low profile.
