The Heavy Shirt Care Guide

November 07, 2023

What a shirt you got there, nice one. Here are a few tips on how to keep it looking good.

We're not going to bother you, or make you work hard for it or anything, promise. Here are just a few tips to help you keep its in good shape for a long time.

HOW DO YOU WASH IT?

Think of the Heavy Shirt as a kind of light jacket. As in, you don’t need to bung it in the wash every other week. Rather, you can simply hang it on a hanger and air it out to get the smells out and freshen it up.

When come’s the time for a serious wash however, here’s the way to do it:

  • Machine wash at 40°C max for the plain colour version.
  • Machine wash at 30°C max for the checkered version.

In both cases, don't go above 800 rpm so as not to damage the fabric or cause a sheen on it.

Friendly tip: a washing/laundry net will work wonders to protect it as much as possible, and wash it inside out. This will minimise the rubbing on your shirt, collar and buttons.

AND DRYING?

Whatever you do, stay away from the tumble dryer! You’d just be asking for trouble what with the brushed moleskin and flannel cotton. Maybe even risk causing irreversible damage to the fabric. Get yourself a hanger, preferably a large one. Then hang you shirt in the open air to dry naturally, but away from direct sunlight (even moonlight, yes it’s a thing) to preserve its beautiful shade: and that's it, you're good to go.

CAN I IRON OR...?

If ironing is your thing, then go ahead, but don't go overboard, a few gentle presses at max 110°C on a delicate setting should do the trick (to avoid scorching the fabric).

Thanks !
