Care Guide for the Heavy-Zip Knit

With a name like that, it doesn’t really need much help, does it? Still a few tips won't hurt.

Washing your Knit

Ever caught a sheep taking baths? Didn’t think so. That’s because their wool is self-cleaning. In other words, the fresh air and the wool’s natural antibacterial properties are enough to stay clean. Same goes for your 100% pure wool knit. That’s why we don’t advise on washing it too often: A little breather al fresco on a wide hanger should take care of keeping it feeling fresh and rid of smells.

If you’ve been wearing it days on end, and you really do want to give it a wash, once or twice a year should cut it.

  • You might want to consider a specialist, as in a dry cleaner.
  • If you want to do it yourself, prefer doing it by hand and in cold water. Rinse it very delicately without wringing too much or you'd risk damaging the fibres and your knit would lose its shape.
  • If you really want to give it a spin in the wash, opt for the delicate wool setting, at 30°C max and go for a low 400rpm rinse cycle.

Drying it

Whatever you do, no tumble dryer. Just let it dry, laid flat in a well-ventilated space.

Also, don't put it on a hanger to dry as a heavyweight garment like your Knit might start stretching more than you'd want it to when wet.

Ironing it

You might want to iron it to put the wool back in line, with a gentle heat (no more than 110°C), a few presses with the stream iron will do the trick and restore its original look.

FYI, OUR HEAVY ZIP KNIT IS SOFT ON YOU AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Heavy Zip Knits:

  • They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing them for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
  • No microplastics are released during washing. Unlike many garments, our Heavy Zip Knits have been designed to not release any microplastics. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that are released when worn or washed and have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Heavy Zip Knit. The main reason is that recycled fibres are shortened and that would have ended up affecting the quality of this knit.

Thanks!
