Summer-ready Light Chinos

Making light of summer

What we took care of after you told us how those other chinos let you down:

1

A fabric too thick for summer

2

Colours that fade faster than your tan

3

A flimsy fabric

4

A cut too slim or too baggy

The perfect Fabric

When it comes to making summer-ready chinos, finding the right cotton is key. You wanted something light and breezy, without sacrificing strength, so we opted for 260g/m2 organic cotton twill. Made in Italy using a 3/1 weave, this stuff ticks all the metaphorical boxes… it’s crisp, it’s comfortable and it’s reassuringly tough. It won’t let you down when the temperature rises. Perfect.

Ultra-comfy handle

To ramp up the comfort stakes even further, our organic cotton twill underwent a special laundering process to give it a super-soft handle. For those of you who like stats, this stuff earned a solid five-out-of-five rating in our highly-scientific laboratory rub-test—feel it for yourself and you’ll see why.

Super sharp shape

You were tired of ultra-skinny chinos that you could barely move in, so we went for a classic tailored fit—neither big-and-baggy nor-super-slim. The legs are gently tapered, with a bit of room to move—they’re sharp, but not suffocating.

Made to last

As military classics, chinos should be made to last, so for added durability, the belt-line and the side seams have been reinforced with double-top stitching. We also added bartacks on the belt loops and around the front pockets to help prevent ripping. These time-honoured work-wear details help take the strain, leaving you to focus on the important stuff… whatever that may be.

Heavy-duty hardwear

These might be the Light Chinos, but when it came to the hard-wear, we kept things heavy-duty. That meant a YKK zip on the fly, and some organic, imitation horn buttons for the pockets. Chinos come from longstanding military stock, so we went for a timeless, classic look here.

The devil is in the details

70% of you told us you didn’t want rear pockets flapping about. We were pretty pleased to oblige as usual. When you have slacks this clean looking, there’s no need for frills in the pocket department. Clean classic welt pockets that leave the trousers’ cut to do the talking.

Fully secure

Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise—pocket bags are important. Ours are made from soft cotton for even more points on the comfort-o-meter, and have been secured firmly in place. This cunning detail means they don’t pop out when you’re reaching for your keys. You’ll be glad we thought of this.

The choice is yours

We know that some people like to cuff their trousers, whilst some like a cleaner hem, so we’ve made sure the legs of the Light Chinos are nice and long, to accommodate both. Turn ‘em up… or have them altered… it’s up to you.

Highly versatile

Thanks to that sharp, subtle design, our Light Chinos work just as well with tennis shoes and a hoodie as they will with a button-down and desert boots. Yep, they’re very, very versatile, and although they were made with summer in mind, you’ll be reaching for these well into autumn.
